The Club's Regulator for Tap Box

Post by daryl »

Last weekend, it was thought the small CO2 tank might be out of gas; beer was just dribbling out of the taps. I had the same thing happen today, when I ran Starsan through the lines. So I hooked up the large CO2 tank....same thing.

Unless both of these tanks are low, we have a problem with the regulator. I tried turning the knob of the regulator...it seems frozen, but I did not want to torque it too much.

We might need a new regulator...and see if someone can rebuild this one.

All of the lines on the tap box are blown out.

I might need some help getting this back into the trailer.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

I can put it in the trailef if you want to stop at my house. Not sure what up with regulator. Poured fine night before. Gauge is broken though so you can't go by what it tells you.

Definitely need the gauge fixed. Or just buy a new one.

Rapids in Marion has this one..

Personally I say just get a new one.

Isn't the adjustment frozen? Or, can that be repaired too?

If it's frozen, then we buy another unless someone has parts. I made two good regulators from a box of broken ones a brewery was tossing out years ago.

The adjustment knob will not move. But I haven't put any serious torque on it.

The ones with just a screw for a flat head screw drivers seize up all the time. Total junk in my experience. Few bucks more gets you a hand adjustable knob. Going on over 10 years with one of those with no issues. My blue one with the flathead screw adjustment only lasted a few years.

This one has the knob. Which is why I held off torquing it too much; but if we have nothing to lose, I will try to loosen it up.

Ans pull knob out. If pushed in it locks in position.

I bet that's the case. I will be able to let you know what happens at the end of the week.

And I think we're good! I have not used one of these units...pulling out the knob provides a level of adjustment now.

I'm considering this good to go.

Thanks for the feedback Matt.
