Mead Judging Training
Mead Judging Training
I will be holding a tech meeting on Tuesday the 6th of February.
We will go through the BJCP judging criteria for mead and melomel. I will have 8 to 10 different products representing most of the sub-categories in the criteria. I will have judging sheets from Ken Schramm and others on products I have submitted to past competitions.
Please post a message if you plan to attend. Daryl will arrange for a location to hold the tech meeting based upon how many people RSVP.

Re: Mead Judging Training
It looks like we will have a total of 5, including Pat. (Karl, Randy, Pat, tony, and Daryl)
Any other takers?
If no, we will meet either at IBC or Uptown Snug. Really need a dozen or so to ask Lion Bridge to bring in the staff to open up on a Tuesday evening.

Looks like tomorrow is a go.....
Let's start at 7:30 PM.
We are tentatively meeting at Uptown Snug in Marion, subject to approval by their management. I will know for sure, soon after they open at 2 PM tomorrow.
My backup plan is IBC, they are holding a ping pong tournament tomorrow night, but I think we would be able to coexist with that event if need be.
So, hold the time, and please check back here tomorrow afternoon for word on the place.

Re: Mead Judging Training
Another really good tech meeting is in the books.
Four hearty students braved the cold and snow to sample 11 meads and to review 10 competition score sheets for five of them; and compared them with our evaluation.
Pat also reviewed the basic characteristics used to judge mead, and provided a brief overview of the basic styles.
It was a very informative, enjoyable, and tasty evening.
I would bet (and hope) this will not be Pat's last Mead Tech Meeting.
Thanks Pat, for another very worth while tech meeting.
