2018 New Members Introduction
Welcome to the Cedar Rapids Beer Nuts Forum. Use this space to introduce yourself so you're not a complete stranger when you show up at a meeting!
There are many people in the club, from those that are interested in learning more about beer, to those that brew their own beer using extract or all-grain methods. There are many pros and cons to each and no one method is better than the other. The key is making beer that you enjoy, and learning about beer, too.
Meetings are open to the public and held the third Thursday of the month at a local establishment (exception is November -- elections and member only -- and December is too busy with holidays).
How to Join the Cedar Rapids Beer Nuts? Dues are $20 for 2018.
Square in person [available at meetings only!]: just bring your credit card.
Cash or Check at the meeting.
After your dues are paid, PM myself or any of the cabinet members and we'll get you access to the members only section.
Just be aware that we are currently going through a name transition due to some copyright issues. The winds of change are blowing!

Hi. I am Michael. I like beer! Preferred styles are juicy NE IPA's and big stouts..
Currently brewing on 5 gallon gas. Fermenting in a temp controlled chest freezer in carboys.
Working on new system that is about 75% complete. 10+ gallon E.H.E.R.M.S. with ss brewtech fermenter and penguin chillers glycol chiller.
Always looking for new ideas, techinques to improve as a hobbiest!

Yes, welcome!
I'll be happy to discuss the system build as I also run a 10-gallon EHERMS and am planning a glycol system.

Re: 2018 New Members Introduction
Hello,
I'm Matt. I met a few people at the March meeting and I'm looking forward to attending next week for April.
I've been a home brewer for 19 years. We moved to the area in January and I'm still working on getting my brewery set back up. I was running a 5 gallon electric RIMS system in the basement with 6 zones of cooling from a home made glycol chiller. I moved all of that from Wyoming with me, but I still need to get it set back up. I'll have to get a sink and ventilation installed in the basement or garage of our new house to start with. So it might be a little while before I'm back up and running (hopefully not too long).
Looking forward to meeting some more brewers!
