Famous Mockingbird beer night, April 13th

Post by jjpeanasky »

Hey everyone. Got contacted by the event coordinator for The Famous Mockingbird in Marion. They're looking to do a Beer tasting/ bottle share April 13th and was looking for someone interested in helping educate on beer. They're looking to help answer questions on everything from different kinds of beer, the growing of hops, the making of beer, to the pouring of beer.

I'm leaving this open to individual members of the club. If you'd like more information post here and I can pass out the contact info.

If we had a group I’d be interested in bringing some beer.

Friday the 13th beer event in Marion. Sounds risky. Just kidding, sounds fun. Not sure I am available that night but could be fun for somebody.

Here is the reply I got back:
So far its becoming more of a bottle share, education night. We have Miguel from Iowa Brewing to talk, and a hop farmer from Buck Creek as well. So far I know that Buck Creek will be doing a presentation, but for the most part it will be pretty relaxed. We would love if you came in and talk your experience if you are interested.
Sounds like we won't be the only ones there, and it's a bit more casual. My thoughts were to bring a few pieces of equipment (my small kettle, chiller, a plastic fermenter, a keg, and maybe a bottle with capper) and a bit of beer to share. Give a small overview of how homebrewing compares to professional brewing.

Ya that sounds like a plan to me, I’ve got a cooler mash tun I can bring as well. I’ll prolly throw in a PET carboy with a bung and airlock too.

Sounds good guys. This is an opportunity for us to share our hobby and educate on the delicious diversity of beer. Thanks for your efforts!

Sorry that I can't join in on that date. Besides my ugly mug would probably scare people away...
