No Smirkin about the Firkin!

1st Firkin Friday @ LBB today @ 3pm. Gonna be a crazy one - Malört Saison. Malört is some crazy ass liquor famous in Chicago for how awful it tastes! Gonna go find out for myself!

I got there early and the first sample I tried was "meh" - what's all the hype about? Just tasted like a saison. But, as the firkin warmed up and settled a bit, my second taste about an hour later, you could definitely taste something was in there - herbal, woody, slightly bitter, but nothing overwhelming. Alec said that they only put 1/4 of the bottle on the wood chips, which is what actually went into the firkin.

Today's firkin is Salted Caramel Imperial Porter (8.5% ABV). I'll be heading down around 3pm for the tapping.
