Re: Mad McCusker's Mead Melee
Bottled up a couple dry/traditional tonight, and fortunately after the first taste of batch 2, I knew which to enter.
Unfortunately I have no idea what the hell #2 smells/tastes like, just that is not something I'd be willing to enter -- hopefully pat can tell me what it is from a sample on thursday

It has been more than a year in the making...and judgement day is coming near soon.....April 5th to be exact.
This is the first call for judges.
Anyone can judge, Pat will give an overview of the Mead styles and score sheets; and hopefully Pat will be able to recruit a few outsiders to assist and team up with a new-bee.
Please post here if you are willing to judge....let's shoot to begin at 7 PM.
A venue will be reserved and advertised here the week of April 5th or prior to that week.

New Judging Opportunity - Field Trip to East Grove Meadery
So, here is the deal....
Kurt Garretson, of East Grove Meadery, is willing to help us judge. The catch is, we need to do the judging at East Grove Meadery.....ROAD TRIP.
So, how about this plan.
What: Mad McCuskers Mead Melee Judging
Where: East Grove Meadery
When: Sunday, April 8, arrive no later than 1 PM, setup and begin judging at 1:30 PM...return that evening.
Why: uhhh, cuz its fun?
How: Depart the CR area no later than 11:15...with a 10-15 min pit stop, that should yield an arrival time close to 1PM.
Pat will be driving and will have room for three more, two, if I ride with Pat.
If I drive, I could easily fit 2 more, maybe three.
Post here, if you are up for a short field trip and judging our Mead entries.

Re: Mad McCusker's Mead Melee
I'd be happy happy with the road trip; sounds like fun.
But I'm mixing sound at church this Sunday and could not leave until about 12:30.

Re: Mad McCusker's Mead Melee
When should we expect results to be posted?
Re: Mad McCusker's Mead Melee
I visited with Pat this morning about this subject.
If no one objects, we would like to make the announce the results and have Pat award the one gallon of honey, at the next membership meeting on Thursday, April 19.
In other but related news.....I would like to recommend to the cabinet that one of the competitions for the CRBS Brewer of the Year include a Mead Competition. It could be a fifth competition, or replace one of the four.

Re: Mad McCusker's Mead Melee
I announced several times at prior meetings that turn in would be in March; judging would occur in early April; the winner will be announced at the April meeting.
See you then.
