Liquidation Rally 2018 - Call for Judges

Post by daryl »

We are scheduled to judge the Liquidation Rally entries next Monday, and if needed, Tuesday.

This is the call for judges. If you have an entry/entries submitted, you are not automatically disqualified to judge. I can make sure you will not be judging your entry; so, if you can maintain fairness in evaluating other styles/entries and have them stand on their own merit, please participate.

Also, we will also need to have stewards to help keep the entries and score sheets properly organized.

Please let me know if you are available for Monday, June 4 and/or Tuesday, June 5; and the times you would be available to work (and in what capacity: judge and/or steward). And, if you are entering, please let me know what style(s) you are entering so I can begin organizing teams/schedules.

I would like to start no later than 6:30 PM, and probably call it a night around 10 PM.

Location is TBD at this time.

Turn-in information will be mailed to you individually (and posted on the forum) later today. There will be at least one turn-in, this Friday, June 1...details to follow.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale

I am available both nights. I will have an entry, so steward would be best. But if you are too short on judges I could help with that.

I should be available either night, but not both. I will have entries as well so would be happy to steward but can also judge impartially. I will be entering a specialty IPA and a Saison.

I wasn't planning on entering my beers ad they're intended to test hops rather than be competitive. I can judge both nights but would be late for a 6:30 start on Monday.

I postponing the Liquidation Rally 2018 judging session for today and tomorrow; we need additional judges to make this happen....and I know Monday is a pretty busy day of the week...but it was worth a shot.

The Cabinet meeting is Wed...so that day is out. Saturday is the Lager-Lympics, so Saturday is not a good day.

PLAN B....
So let's see if we can complete this on Sunday....starting at 1 PM...and we judge until we have selected the three best in show. With approximately 25 entries.....we should be able to crank through these in an afternoon....and have a celebratory beer at the end of the day.

I will go through the entries and come up with a proposed schedule of flights (i.e. groupings of style) and post it here.

In the meantime, post here your willingness to serve and the times you would be available to participate on Sunday (include times between 5 PM and 9 PM).

If this doesn't come together, then PLAN C will be to regroup again for next week on two consecutive days....next week will be more flexible as we have our choice of Mon/Tue or Tue/Wed or Wed/Thu.

ALSO....keep in mind, that just because you have an entry, you are not excluded from judging. I can provide instructions to the stewards that will ensure you do not judge your own entry. NOW...we will be highly selective of the judges involved in ranking the Best of Show.....those judges will not have an entry in the final round.

Thanks for the continued persistence on this Daryl. Unfortunately I won't be able to help out on Sunday, I'm on call for work and can't guarantee to be there for the entire block of time without interruption.

I have an entry, American IPA

I cannot participate on Sunday. That's my daughter's ballet recital.
