Brew Stand Questions.
I've sketched out my brew stand. It is at this link. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bp93bz ... sp=sharing
I am not using stainless steel. Is 2" tubing too big? Is 1" tubing too small? In the steel tubing world is 1.5" tubing an off size and it would be more expensive than 2"? What wall thickness should I be looking for?
Does anybody have any recommendations for a welding shop, or welder?

Ben at Lion Bridge (bartender) is also a welder; he says he has built brew stands before....he might be able to help.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

Not for a welder, but check Marion Iron for the steel you want. A friend of mine just bought some stainless angle from Liebovich and cut it himself. Could have saved money at Marion Iron AND they would have cut it for him.mjensen52402 wrote:I've sketched out my brew stand. It is at this link. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bp93bz ... sp=sharing

I don't believe inch and a half is an odd size or to be more expensive than going with 1 or 2 inch tubing. My dad and I weld Oddball things in our shop so I'm just speaking from terms from our local metal supplier we have in town.
Edit from original post -
I think with the size of your Brew stand 1/8 inch wall tubing would be more than plenty.

I did not look at your link in my first post. Looks like it's going to be a nice stand.Schwerkraftbrauer wrote: Edit from original post -

1.5” is not uncommon. My stand is 1.5”x1.5” square tube that is 1/8” thick. Put the stand on 3” or 4” casters so you can roll it around.Schwerkraftbrauer wrote:I don't believe inch and a half is an odd size or to be more expensive than going with 1 or 2 inch tubing. Thank's Mike. I am thinking about putting the casters on one end on end. Mounting them on the side. When I pick up tge other end the casters will be on the ground. Pipe dream?

Re: Brew Stand Questions.
Seems like that would work, but wouldn't that make it real heavy to lift moving it around? Most casters have locking brakes on them, and they're pretty heavy duty anyway. I would consider having all of them on casters just for the ease of mobility in tight spaces, also think of your back.mjensen52402 wrote:Thank's Mike. More Beer does wheels on one side. Just like a wheel barrow.

My brew tower is 1-inch 1/8-wall square tube and works fine for 10-gallon brew length. It's plain mild steel, painted with POR-15.
That being said, as things have evolved, I think it would have been nice to build it out of Unistrut. That way I could have reconfigured it without cutting and welding.
