July 2018 - 3A Czech Pale Lager - Call for Judges

Post by daryl »

This is the call for judges, to judge the submissions for this quarter's club competition.

Location will be determined, once we have settled in on a date (likely Clock House or Thew).

Our options are Tuesday, August 7 of Thursday August 9; gather at 7 PM, the judging to start soon after.

We can get by with 4, but six is better. It is good to have a steward or two as well, but I will process the entries such that we can self steward.

Please post if you can judge on one or both of these dates.

If you are new to judging, don't worry, we will coach you up - there are some variables to track, but you will be guided by the style sheet for these beers....don't be shy, there will be experienced members there that will be glad to help you along.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

No judging tonight, we will not have enough personnel to properly cover the entries...so we will push this out to next week.

Monday Aug 13, Tuesday Aug 14, or Wednesday Aug 15 are in play. If you can judge, please post here those evenings you would be available.....we'll tentatively will say that we shall start at 7 PM and see what feedback I receive.

Let's tentatively go with judging tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 15. Plan on starting at 7 PM. I will secure a location to judge.....likely Thew or Clock House.

Could really use another judge or two....but we will soldier it out with what we have.

Travis and Terry - I will see you at 7 PM tomorrow night.....I'll post the location as soon as I get permission from one of the breweries.

And anyone else who has the time and inclination, please post here if you can join us to judge.

We will be judging at Clock House....outside, on the patio. Should be a nice night for that. They are having their Trivia night in the Tap Room, so being outside is the better option.

Randy - come on down if you would like to help. At this point we do not have a steward.

If anyone else can judge it would be nice. A tie breaker may be needed.

Here are the results for the July competition:

1st Place - Josh Peanasky (3 pts)
2nd Place - Mark Jensen (2 pts)
3rd Place - Karl Hoech (1 pts)

Thank yous to Travis Kasper, Terry Arnold, and Tom Tapp for volunteering to judge the entries and for Randy Carris and Pat McCullough for stewarding and keeping the entries straight for the judging teams and tallying the score sheets.

Now, on to October for the final round of the competition.

Cheers,
D
