Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
Aug 25 - Independence BBQ and Brew - an informal, but a very enthusiastic crowd - another very fun event.
http://www.brewbq.org/craft-brew-zone/2 ... e-line-up/
The actual pour event runs from 3PM - 7PM. With the VIP Session running from 3PM to 4PM....they would like for us to run a few beverages exclusive to that hour; and they would like to know what those beers will be. The VIPs will be voting on Best Homebrew, the winner will receive a Best Home Brew banner.
I have been contacted by our friends in Independence for a brew list. This will be one week after our Festival and most likely will include many of the beers left at the end of our festival. SO...AND THIS IS IMPORTANT, come this Sunday, August 19, please transfer any beers you are sending to Independence, from our Festival to the 2018 Brew BQ festival. If you have a beer to enter at the Brew BQ, and not our Festival, you can enter it prior to but no later than Sunday, AUGUST 19.
Do not transfer prior to OUR festival....we need that list intact through Saturday.
So, this is my call to action for:
1) Volunteers to go and pour (I will get more details as to departure times, festival times, etc.) and
2) This is my first reminder to enter your beer, THIS COMING SUNDAY, August 19. Beers not listed on Sunday will not be listed in the Brew BQ Program.
Please post if you are interested in going....I will likely pull the trailer and I plan to be there by or before 2 PM (so I can pull my truck and trailer into the festival area behind our shelter.
More information to follow as details emerge and/or how this plan unfolds.
Thanks - Daryl

Re: Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
I'm planning on attending. I should have leftover beer to take from the Festival. Will confirm on Sunday. I will check to see if I have any of the gose left. I could doctor up a growler with some passion fruit syrup for the VIP session if I have enough left?

Re: Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
If I can send my keg with someone, I can throw in my pin-lock of coffee blonde. If not, then I'm out.
Sorry I didn't get it up sooner, didn't know what was left over from Benz until I picked up kegs today.

Re: Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
The Boarding Party for Brew BQ, as I know it today - Tuesday - is: Tony Browning, Mark Jensen, Pat McCusker, and me-self.
Tony has his beer and Karl's.
Mark is bringing his beer.
Pat is bringing his meads/beer/cider and necktie
I am bringing by beers.
We need a pickup of Josh Peanasky's Coffee Blonde; Tony or Mark, are you near to Josh to do a pick up?
I will be bringing the trailer and a keg of StarSan to flush out the beer lines. We should also blow them out as well, we should be able to cobble up something with our CO2 tanks.
I will pick up a case of water, we can ice down at the festival....it is going to be pretty warm on Saturday afternoon.
I'd suggest bringing a lawn chair.

Daryl - did you want me to bring "Flavor Town" along?

That's up to you Tony. Bring it along if you like, and if you do, let's break it out after the VIP session....so we don't muddy the water on VIP voting.....do we have any signage for Flavor town?

Re: Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
On second thought, let's not mess with it. We only have a small footprint there and not sure where I'd set it up. Plus, the sign from our festival talks about making flavored sodas, which we're not doing today.

Re: Independence BrewBQ August 25th - Call for Participation
Just received this e-mail from John thanking you for being a part of Brew B Q.
Your beer donations and participation have made a difference.
Save the date for August 24, Brew B Q is a blast.....really good BBQ, good live music, some great beers (Homebrew and commercial), and the company of a lot of our beer friends and many other friendly folk.
Thanks,
Daryl

Hi Daryl,
I want to let you know that the 2019 Brew B Q will be on August 24. The Craft Brew Zone will run from 3:00 to 7:00 pm as usual.
We had a good year in 2018. We gave $7,500 to our charity partner the Independence Fire Department. We also gave $1,000 to the Holland Endowment Fund, in memory of one of our founding Brew B Q members. Thank you for being a part of it.
We look forward to having the Cedar Rapids Brewing Society at the 2019 Brew B Q!
