Bent River ProAm competition

Post by carrisr »

From Glenn Cole of Bent River Brewing:
"Bent River Brewing Company and the Dwyer and Michaels morning radio show are hosting a huge homebrewing competition in the Quad Cities.

The event will take place at Bent River’s Rock Island location on 11/10. This will be a pouring only event, not a BJCP judged bottle competition. The public (and possibly a weighted judging) will vote on their favorite BREWER, not a specific beer. So brewers are encouraged to bring more than one style of beer to pour. Clubs may pour next to each other and share equipment but the judging will be for individual brewers.

This event will be FREE to the public, 21+, for several hundred attendees (exact number has not been finalized). The event will have a huge promotional boost on the radio as well.

The TOP TWO voted brewers will both get to formulate a recipe with a Bent River brewer and brew on their pilot system. Both of these beers will be kegged and bottled in 22 oz bomber bottles and released at Bent River at the same time at another event with a second head to head people’s choice vote.

The grand prize winner will get to brew their recipe on the production scale brewing system at Bent River. This beer will then be kegged and distributed wherever Bent River beer is available.

Winners will get to help name and design the label for their beer. They will get full credit as the brewer of their beer on the label! The grand prize winner will also have the opportunity to talk about their beer on the Dwyer and Michaels show.

Other prizes may also be available

(Brewers outside of the Quad Cities area are welcome to pour but only brewers who can commit to brewing onsite as well as being at the release parties are eligible to win the prize)

Please share this with any other homebrewing groups you are in!

Brewers can message me or email me at glenn@bentriverbrewing.com to register. There are 19 spots still open at the time of this message"

Is anybody going to participate? I emailed Glenn and I will be going, not sure what I’m Brewing yet, probably something hoppy I’m sure.

Contemplating it, did they say anything as far as the time the event begins and goes to? Also was there a limit on the amount of beers you could bring? Like bring your best 3 or 4?

Sounds like you can bring as many as you want. But it’s limited to a number of brewers. He did say beer only. Not sure on times

I emailed Glenn a while back about times, haven't gotten a response on that but i did submit an email to enter... not sure how many spots, if any, are open still. I'll have to wait and see, i think i read last week there were like 8 open still.
Anyone have a link to a webpage that would have the information? Or a number to call?

Just got email back for this.
Anyone interested in this event a minimum of 2 different 5 gallon batches is required(10gal total) max of 4 different batches. That's quite a bit of beer to taxi down there.
