General Meeting Minutes
2018 October 18

Meeting was called to order at 8:21 pm with sixteen members and two guests in attendance.

Old Business

Club Competitions
Watch the club forums for details and announcements.
October - American Amber (19A)
2019 beer styles (randomly selected) and turn-in dates
January - American Stout (20B)
April - American Pale Ale (18B)
July - Fruit Beer (29)
October - Dunkelbock (6C)
Mead style will be berry mead (M2B) and turn-in will be at the May general meeting. A tech session, led by Pat McCusker, has been announced through the forums and will be held on September 25th, 2018.

2018 “Bunged” Rally

Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day
November 3 at 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
Lower patio at Clockhouse Brewery
Invitation to participate sent via forums

Club Winter/Christmas Party
December 8, at Thew Brewing, 7:00 pm until they throw us out
All members, each with spouse or a guest, are invited to come join the celebration
As always, bring your favorite beers and favorite foods to share.
We all collect some good brew and make tasty food -- this party alone is worth the cost of dues!

New Business

Homebrew Swap Meet
Do you have some old brew gear that you want to swap or sell? Or, are you looking for some stuff for your brewery?
Open to all (not just members)
Held at October Happy Hour at Lionbridge Brewing
Reaching out to local clubs to see if anyone outside our club wants to participate
Feel free to tell your friends

Officer Elections
At closed portion of November meeting
Offices will be voted sequentially on separate ballots
Consider nominating yourself or another member

Magazine Subscriptions
BYO has continued to drop the ball -- we’re done messing with them
Refund ($15) issued as discount to 2019 dues (unless you want a check)
Looking into group subscription to Craft Beer & Brewing for next year

Superbowl Party
Is there interest in gathering to imbibe, eat, and watch the game

2019 Wort Rally
Planning meeting with Lionbridge on October 17 meeting to be covered by Daryl and Matt
Dates to be announced on forums when finalized
5-week turn-around for judging with as many BJCP-certified judges as possible

2019 “Bunged” Rally
Theme this year is Breakfast Pastry
Entries must include non-trivial amount of such pastries. Precise rules are being developed.
Will include “Fred Spinner Memorial” (no he’s not dead, just in Arizona) special award for using Pop Tarts

2019 Dues
Proposed dues for 2019 are $25 to be paid at January meeting
Increased dues of $30 for paying later than January

2019 Grain Buy
Need to start planning
Ask Iowa Brewing if they’re interested in working with us again

Upcoming Meetings

The cabinet agreed that the location of cabinet meeting should be that of the next month’s general meeting when logistically possible.
