We wait for it all year...and in about 7 weeks our wait will be over.....Barrel Aged January at Lion Bridge will be here.
Ana McClain reached out to me to ask if the CRBS could come up with some Barrel-Aged Homebrew for our Happy Hour, to add to the fun.
Now, you do not need a barrel to achieve barrel aging....you can buy oak wood chips, cubes, spirals...charred/uncharred...and you can soak them in your favorite brandy, bourbon, whiskey, cordial....the combinations are near endless. And, you can season 1 gallon or less....or more...as you please.
There is still time to brew.....Do we have any takers?
I think I am in!

Sounds like fun. I've got wood chips and, heavens knows, enough whiskey to float a battleship. I should be able to come up with something for it.

I talked to Wendy the other night and she said it’s going to be a huge month, maybe 20 beers and variants! Also another CRBS collab with Lee Paulson i believe is going to be part of the festivities I hear. Looking forward to it!

Bump, don’t forget the wood aged beers for January Happy Hour. We don’t have to bring wood aged brews, but LB brought it up as a fun addition to their Barrel Aged January.

Just transferred the Irish Coffee beer to secondary today and added the cold brewed coffee and lactose. Will toss in the oak chips with the Jameson into the keg sometime next week, when I keg the Drunken Nutella with the Cedar Ridge Lost Pirate rum soaked oak chips.
Their flyer with all the January beers has us listed as "Barrel Aged Happy Hour," so we gotta represent!
