I am entertaining the thought of driving to Des Moines to drop off my entries( I've never had the best of luck shipping bottles) depending when it gets closer I'll know more of whether it'll be on the weekend or a Thursday or Friday because that's when they open at noon. Enough time for a beverage a bite to eat somewhere and drive home.
Depending on the date of course open for a tag-along Rider or to take other people's entries with me.

Just a reminder, registration is a little over a week away. Joel and I are planning to go to DSM to drop off entries on March 9th. So if anybody wants to enter don’t be shy, we’re going either way. Anybody who does have an entry, we can arrange a pickup or I can take them at the February happy hour at LB.

I registered. Are they allowing people to enter beers yet? I'll probably enter 2-3.

OK, entry registration begins tonight at midnight. Feel free to enter as many beers as you want being we're going to be driving them there , you don't have to pay shipping.

Next is getting your entries to either Travis or myself. Travis has agreed to take entries during this month's happy hour. Otherwise the February general meeting would be another drop off point. I still have room for two other people in the car first come first serve so speak up. We are going to be driving March 9th it's a Saturday. We're going to park at Blairs Ferry HyVee parking lot and leaving at 9 a.m. this is the last and final drop off point I'll try to be there a little early like 8:45 a.m. for any last-minute drop offs. If you can't make any of these dates work I suggest you find a proxy to drop your entries off for you.

Saturday March 9th we are leaving at 9 a.m. not 9:05 not 9:10, 9 a.m. Sharp. If you are running late I hope you're a faster driver than me and can catch us on the road. I don't think this should be a problem being we're giving everybody a clear month in advance.
Leaving Cedar Rapids at 9 will put us in Des Moines downtown around 11 a.m. the plan is to stop somewhere for a bite to eat and a beverage and then go to Confluence Brewing for entry drop off. They don't open till noon and they don't serve food hence why we're going there second. Other stops on the way back home will be considered and discussed as we get closer.

Thanks

I'll plan on getting my entries to you before that. Hopefully at the Happy hour. I'll probably send 2 beers and a mead. I'd love to go over with you but can't the 9th. If for some reason you decide to delay I could go the 16th.

We also need to start talking about who all wants to go over and volunteer for the event. It would be a great opportunity to learn before our own sanctioned competition.

If you are entering IBU Open but haven't gotten your beers signed up yet, you may want to get on it. You don't have to pay when you register beers, so you can change your mind later. They cap entries at 400 and were at 190 a few minutes ago. Today is only the second day entries have been open.

Still over 100 entries to fill if you want in. They are even recognizing proposed new Specialty IPA category 21B7 New England IPA.

Well there you go. I've tasted more than a few good/great NEIPAs from club members. If you all enter we could rock that category. It's time CRBS made a big preasence there.

About 2 weeks left to get entries there, and less than 80 spots left, get yours registered soon, they will fill up fast.

We also need to start talking about who all wants to go over and help judge or steward. It's a great opportunity to see how a larger comp is run and it's fun too. In year's past they've given out some nice prizes for volunteering. We also need to get some members trained up as we are expanding the scope of our wort rally comp.

So if you are available and interested in going post here so we can work out the details. I plan to go up and help out all day on Saturday. I'll need to hit the road pretty early. I can convert my van back to passenger mode if enough want to go.
