Another great time at the Conference. The trip home yesterday was a whole different story (lots of delays - got home 5 hours late! - at least they didn't lose my bag with all my swag in it!)

If you didn't see the posting of the beer comp winners - Divesh Lakhi who poured with us at the People's Choice wort rally event took a 3rd place for his stout! Zack Rice of IBU took a 1st place for his Scottish ale. And, Scot Schaar of REFS got a shout out as a collaborator on the 1st place award for Spiced meads. So, Iowa was well represented.

Looking forward to Nashville next year! Hope we can swing taking our bars down and pouring on Club Night. It was epic as usual this year. I had a Lobster Gose. Yes, he actually cooked a lobster in the wort! Craziest thing that I had, which was actually good, was a black garlic mead. I like cooking with black garlic, so that's what got my attention. Several great costumes/decorated booths - from wild west saloons, to bowling alleys, to a race track (Saratoga NY club, of course) with members dressed like jockeys. The most beers was from a RI club (over 50) - mostly bottles, which is how they got around the keg limit rule - it's where I got the black garlic mead. Best bar - a wood fired pizza oven. (No, it didn't actually have a fire in it, but it looked pretty damn real!)

Great seminar put on by 3 guys on do's/don'ts of running a BJCP sanctioned competition. We did a lot of things right with ours, per their suggestions, but I did pick up some great tips/ideas for ours going forward.

WOW this is very early for registration. Usually they wait until after they're done with the beer registrations for the competition, which by the way, opened today!

Even the hotel registration is open. The Gaylord is a huge f-ing hotel. So probably no worries about selling out right away.

Still would like to see us go as a formal Club and pour beers like in Minneapolis and Grand Rapids. It's a great time, if we can get organized and pull it off!!

You can make hotel reservations, but you cannot register for the HBC until March 10.

My wife and I are going to Nashville for most of the week. I'll be at NHC; she'll be off doing something else those days.

There should be opportunities for carpooling, for those of you that are up for a road trip.

The itinerary would likely be something like drive down on Wednesday, June 17th and return on Sunday June 21.

It is about a 9 hour drive to Nashville from Cedar Rapids....will likely be a little over 10 hours including gas and meal breaks.

Things to discuss are, if we want to pour beer....and if so, do we want to bring the trailer? Or, just the table top bar? OR...I found our QD taps, that pour directly from the kegs...that is a possibility too.

Let the discussion begin by stating your interest to attend and/or your interest in providing some of your best beers.....
