2020 Brewer of the Year Competitions
2020 Brewer of the Year Competitions
Here are the competition styles for the 2020 Brewer of the Year competition, the turn-in dates, styles, and categories are:
January - Irish Extra Stout (15C)
April - Red IPA (21B)
May - Traditional Mead (M1, all variants: A, B, or C)
July - Cream Ale (1C)
October - Wheat Wine (21B)
Turn-ins are at the respective monthly membership meetings unless special arrangements are made in advance. Judging will follow as soon after as possible.
Each entry must accompanied by a completed AHA/BJCP Bottle Identification Form. The essential data required are name, phone number, Email Address, Name of Beer, Category Entered, and Subcategory Entered. Additional information may be required as specified by the style (which is the case for a Winter Seasonal and other styles).
Please attach the AHA/BJCP Bottle Identification Form by wrapping the form around the bottle and securing it with a rubber band. A good practice is to place the form in a small ziplock bag prior to attaching it to the bottle, so that if the bottle sweats, it will not damage the form. Please DO NOT glue or tape the forms to your entries.
NEW for 2020: If you would like to have your score sheets emailed to you after the judging make sure that you include your email address on the bottle ID. While we can't guarantee it will happen we are going to try to the sheets emailed back to participants this year.

Just noticed this, but Wheat Wine is actually Category 22D.

I'm hoping to get meads judged this week. Is anyone available to help judge Thursday evening?

If Thursday isn't the cabinet meeting I'll help. I've got 4 entries currently.

Does 7pm work? We could do it at my place. I live out near Stone City.

Re: 2020 Brewer of the Year Competitions
Results of the Traditional Mead competition are as follows:
1st place: Tony Browning
2nd place: Logan Loeb
3rd place: Shane Freese
On a general note for future mead entries: There are 3 pieces of information that need to be included with all mead entries. Strength (hydromel, standard, sack or strong), carbonation (still, petulant, sparkling) and sweetness (dry, semi-sweet, sweet). Most of the entries were missing at least one of these 3.
Standings to date:
4 points:Tony Browning
3 points: Mark Jensen, Ryan Stevens, Logan & Andrew
2 points: Joel Null, Logan Loeb
1 point: Shane Freese

Looking for a couple of people to help judge the cream ales. Would like to get it done next week. Let me know if interested and what evenings work for you.

No entry from me this time, so I can judge. Any day next week works for me.

Ok, how about Wednesday evening? Tony would you mind hosting on your deck if it's nice?
