Post by daryl »

9/23/2020 - Bumping this as a reminder for members to RSVP if you are going to attend by responding to this post. The number of attendees will determine our venue.

Pat McCusker will lead a tech meeting on Tuesday, October 13, starting at 7:30 PM. Location will be determined based upon the head count of attendees; and will be set no later than the weekend prior to the event.

Pat will lead a discussion of the 6 different ciders he created, using six different yeasts (3 ale yeasts and 3 Belgian yeasts); a project funded in part by the club.

There will be good discussions, good company, and tasting of some really nice ciders.

At this point, attendance will be:

Pat McCusker
Jim Potts

and myself.

I'm in too.

Pat, want me to bring my wild/spon cider from the rally also for tasting? Bottled it up yesterday. (turned the 1388 and 2056 batches into a spiced cider for the season, bottled the Wild straight.)

Haley has agreed to open Thew for us....so we will meet there at or just before 7 PM.

Come early, come thirsty, and show one of our local breweries some love!

Good meeting.
Six ciders, six different yeasts....and six different results.
Thanks to Pat for pulling together this science project; to Thew for hosting us; and to everyone who attended.
If you were unable to attend, there will be future tasting opportunities to sample the six ciders. We'll roll them out at some of our events, such as Happy Hour, when we are able to resume those activities.
Cheers,
Daryl

I was really surprised by the residual sweetness of the Rochefort yeast cider, and the Westmalle was quite good also

Big Thanks to Pat for organizing this session. Very insightful. Will definitely influence my cidermaking going forward. Now a convert to beer yeast for making cider over the white wine yeasts that I had been using.

Big Hugs to Haley for opening up the brewery to host us. Show them some love by stopping by and buying some beers every now and then!
