2021 Cabinet Elections
2021 Cabinet Elections
November will be soon upon us and that means we will be holding elections for the 2021 Cabinet positions. There are five positions that are required to be elected on an annual basis, which include the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Activities Director. You can see the 'formal' job descriptions for these positions at https://cedarrapidsbrewingsociety.org/p ... f=7&t=4025.
Additionally, we have two standing, ad hoc positions which are the Social Media Director and the Drink Local Fest Organizer.
If you are interested in filling one of these positions, please state your intent by responding to this post. And don't be worried about offending any one of the current officers if they are running for re-election. And do not be intimidated by any of the positions, there will always be support from the Club and former officers to assist you in your role.
Currently, it is known that vacancies will exist in the roles of Activities Director and the Drink Local Fest Organizer.
If you have any questions, you can post them here...or, you can private message any one of the cabinet members and we would be happy to assist you and/or answer your questions.
The 2021 Cabinet Members are:
President - Daryl McCall
Vice President - Travis Kasper
Secretary - Andrew Muxen
Treasurer - Derek Doan
Activities Director - Logan Loeb
Drink Local Festival Coordinator - Ryan Stevens
Social Media - Mark Jensen

Re: 2021 Cabinet Elections
I will run for President for the 2021 calendar.
2020 has been a challenging year, as COVID-19 derailed some of our events. It was something that none of us could see coming; but I believe we have learned much from it.
For example, if the state does not impose more stringent restrictions in 2021 than what we experienced in 2020, we will be able to restore some of the activities that were cancelled in 2020. From the knowledge and experienced gained by continuing with the Club Competitions, next year we should be able to hold the Linn County Fair competition and, with Lion Bridge's support, the Wort Rally Competition.
However, COVID-19 was not able to derail all of our activities. Through a great team effect by the cabinet and volunteer members we did manage to hold: 1) Grain Buy (thanks to Karl Hoech and Clock House); 2) hold Tech Meeting Activities (thank you Pat McCusker); 3) conduct our monthly meetings (thanks to Randy Carris for setting up the technology so that we could meet virtually); and 4) all five of our Club Competitions were conducted (thank you Randy Carris, and the Competitors who submitted entries, and the judges who volunteered their time and talents). Most recently we created (or renewed) an activity, the Communal Barrel-Aged Project. And with member input, we are looking into other Tech Meetings that we can hold - hopefully on a quarterly basis.
So, even in the presence of the pandemic known as COVID-19, there is still much we can do until such time we can resume our Festival and Happy Hours. I would consider it a privilege to continue to serve a second term as President and help guide the club through these times.
As was true last year and is true today, my only campaign promise to you is, that if elected, I will work hard to continue the trend of innovating and delivering member-focused programming; and to deliver them to the simple standard set by our previous two Presidents. Which is.....“If it’s not fun, why are we doing it?”.
Cheers,
Daryl

Re: 2021 Cabinet Elections
After some thought about the coming years and some conversations about my involvement with the club in the last 3 years I have decided that I will not be running for Activities Director again this year.
I've decided that I will throw my name in for consideration for Vice President.

Re: 2021 Cabinet Elections
After some encouraging words from Daryl and Andrew Muxen, I'll throw my hat in the ring for the position of Activities Director.

Re: 2021 Cabinet Elections
I have made the cabinet aware that I will not be running for festival coordinator next year.
Thought I'd make it official for the rest.
I have all contact info, email, and any and all info that I forgot to mention to pass on to my successor.

Re: 2021 Cabinet Elections
I am going to run for CRBS treasurer again this year. This has been a challenging year for a social club. Hopefully, next year we can get back to at least some of the activities that make this club so much fun, and continue to share beer with our members and with as wide an audience as possible.
Thanks,
Derek

Re: 2021 Cabinet Elections
Since Joel is stepping down, I'd like to throw my name in for consideration for Festival Coordinator. I'm hopeful that Covid will be under control by next summer and look forward to the opportunity to help organize the festival.
