National Homebrew Conference 2010

Post by Mr T »

All-

Wanted to get some conversation started about who would be interested in this years homebrew conference, from what I've heard its an incredible event.

The 32nd annual National Homebrewers Conference will be held June 17-19, 2010 in Minneapolis at the Sheraton Minneapolis South.

Hotels are filling up and early registration will be nearing an end.

Bummer BA! I plan to attend. I have tentative approval from the wife right now. I need to get an idea of cost and when exactly we would be gone. We need to do this in a hurry because this event fills up fast. We will probably need to be commited before the February meeting.

Count me and John in.

Depending on what's going on at the host hotel, (i.e., are we doing a Hospitality Suite?), we might stay at John's sister's house. She lives in Bloomington, not very far from the event.

We were looking tonight and the main hotel seems full. They don't have any info on the overflow hotel that we found. Once it opens up we will have to jump on it if we want to go.

As long as I can walk back to the room at the end of the night. Too bad, it would have been way more convenient to stay at the actual event.

FYI, This just came across TechTalk:

Subject: AHA Conference Overflow Hotel

Hi All,
As was posted earlier, the host hotel for this year's AHA National Homebrewers Conference, the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, is now completely sold out of rooms.

We now have an overflow hotel, the Sofitel Minneapolis, which is located across the street from the Sheraton. The Sofitel is offering AHA Conference attendees rooms at the same group rate as the Sheraton, of $109 for a standard room. Book online using the link below (you may have to copy and paste into your browser) to receive the group rate, or call the hotel and use the group rate code: AHBA.

Sofitel Minneapolis
5601 West 78TH Street
BLOOMINGTON, MN 55439
(952) 835-1900

Link to book online at group rate: http://www.sofitel.com/sofitel/lien_ext ... sa_express

arrivee=11&mois_arrivee=06&annee_arrivee=2010&nb_
nuit=1&nb_pax=1&isResaDate=1&code_avantage=ahba

If you are planning to attend the conference this year, but have not yet registered, I highly recommend doing so soon. Given how quickly we have filled the rooms at the Sheraton (we've sold more rooms at the Sheraton than any previous conference hotel), I fully anticipate that this conference will sell out, probably within the next month or two. Registration is already at 40% of our capacity.

Cheers!

I am going to order the Social Package No Banquet ($135). I would do the Banquet if I was getting an award but that probably is not going to happen. I don't want to sit through most of the lectures either. They are very interesting, but frankly, I am going to party and the attention span won't survive.

Also, need to get a hotel room. I can split a room with up to 3 other adults to save some cash. I also saw somewhere there was a cheap (about $65) Days Inn on the other side of the Interstate if someone needs to keep the cost down. I can do that too. I would like to have my tickets ordered by the end of the week and reserve a place to pass out by then too.

It's bloomington. There are loads of hotels. Think Mall of America part of Minneapolis. There are probably 8 hotels within .5 miles of the convention. Getting a room is the least of my concerns.

I was thinking the same. Jut wanted to make sure we weren't all planning on full seminars and I only get the party package.
