Brewing Software

Post by jjbuck »

I guess I asked about this once before. I have a trial version of "Promash" software and there are quite a few things about it I don't understand. I have also heard from some of the other members about other brewing software available (Beersmith, ?). I was wondering if one or as many as is available could be reviewed as part of the regular meeting?
Does anyone else have an interest in this?

We should be able to do something. I have Beersmith. If someone who has Promash would want to bring a laptop we could go through some of the different features. Maybe we could help with some of your questions as well.

I've only messed around with this brew builder but it might help you get some of the results you are looking for.

There are a handful of brewing programs out there. I tried Promash and it just didn't seem that user friendly to me. I've been using Beer Tools Pro for the last year or so, and love it. Everything is laid out in a comfortable manner. It's as well designed as it is conceived. I still haven't figured out all of the features on it, but even when I do, I'm sure it'll still just be a supplemental tool. Most of my recipes are a combination of notes scribbled in a notebook, post-its in books, and a shopping list with last minute substitutions because my local brew shop never has exactly what I need when I rush out to get it last minute. (sigh)
