Goose Island Night Stalker - A MUST TRY beer

Post by tony b »

The Center Pt. Rd/Blairs Ferry HyVee Drug is stepping up, ya'll. Packing in some good stuff. Check it out.

As we speak, sippin' on a Night Stalker (Imperial Stout, 11.7%). Wicked Good!! Color is jet black - opaque. Viscosity is somewhere between motor oil and molasses. Big malty/molasses flavor, with a nice overlay of sweet hoppiness that most pale ales would be proud to own. Label says it will stash for up to 5 years; I believe it! I went back and bought 2 more just to put away - one's for 2011 and the other 2012.

Goose Island Night Stalker - A MUST TRY beer

Post by Lower Case T »

Had one last week.  Don't you think that those hops and the RIS ish-ness  (technical term)  or the big stout flavors are at war on your tongue?  All those flavors just didn't get along.  I agree with the 5 years thing.  I'm gonna get some more too to see if some of that hopiness goes away after a while, which I'm sure it will.

It is a very very interesting beer though.  I'll give it that.

If anyone does decide to go to that beer dinner at Red's I'll see you there.

Big T - bombers only @ $9.49 each. The HyVee does carry the other top shelf Goose (Matilda, Sofia, and Pere Jacques) in the new 4 pack of 12 oz bottles.

Little T - yeah, it's a mouthful; super complex. You can see the potential in the aging. I couldn't finish one in one sitting. In fact, I'm using the last few ounces to marinate a steak right now.

The oldest brought one back from KC that we tried about a month ago. It was good and I don't remember it being overly hoppy. Though it may have been aged and I may have been buzzed.
