Derek, I did ask about water access if we did a small demo. I agree though, that just having some items on hand and having one or two people to talk to any interested folks might be plenty. This would be a couple of hours before the tasting tarts so it might not garner a lot of traffic as if it was going on during the tasting. Also, they roughly pull in about a third of what Benz does for the fest, so in general there isn’t as much foot traffic although that could always change.
So the other issue is since this demo would go on from roughly noon to one, and the tasting I believe starts at three, there would be some dead time.. maybe BBQ tasting time??

Item 1:
He'd like to add our beers to the program they'll be printing for the event. Beer Name and Style, and a description of the beer (a sentence or two of marketing speak). If you post that here, I'll forward these on. I know we may not know what all we've got until we get set up in Independence, but we can supply what we can and indicate there will be some surprise extras at the event. I'm not sure what their printing deadline is, he said something about wanting this by Tuesday Aug 10.

Has anyone committed to doing something for the Brewing Demonstration?

Judging... if anyone is interested in judging the barbeque competitions (there's a pro and amateur competition I think) there's a spot or two available.

Amateur Competition... the amateur competition is only among 4 participants. Currently they have 3. Does anyone want to barbeque that day? They supply the grill, fuel, vegetables (for a side or two), and a mystery cut of meat. Contestants start at the same time and prepare the food at the event. Most of the judging is the meat. You provide rubs, sauces, seasonings, and expertise. If you want more information, I can give you the guys phone number. The last couple years Big Green Egg provided the cooking implements. They aren't this year, so I don't know whether the grills will be charcoal or (gasp) propane (yes, Tony, in which case it's a grilling competition not barbeque).

Guys, I'll be bringing a keg of Cascadian Dark Ale (Black IPA). I can bring my 5# CO2 and 2 taps if someone else wants to bring a keg. I can also bring a couple of tall garbage cans that we can put the kegs in with ice.

All, they would like to know what beers (name, style, short description) by next week so they can print these up. So if your planning on bringing a beer, and i hope you do, please post the details. For those who posted, please be more descriptive if you only noted a style, of course a name is optional, but why not... you get it in print!
Let me know if you have any questions, they are really promoting this, so this is a good chance to advertise our wares and show of your beer marketing skills.
The deadline is Sunday night, I'll gather everything next monday and submit to the brewBQ folks.

English Pale Ale - A large ale which has a strong hop background with an equally strong maltiness that balances nicely. 5.8% abv.

Double Hop-Bee "A double pale ale, inspired by the Simcoe hop, finished with honey to a provide just the right touch of sweetness to finish off this high gravity beer." 10.2% ABV
Pull Some More "A american brown ale, inspired by toasted oats with a wonderful balance of malt and american hops." 6.3% ABV
I also have a Barley wine and RIS that are aging if needed however, from the looks of the posts I think we will have enough beers to field this, but they are on deck if needed.

Thanks everyone for the info.. again found out they are not posting descriptions, just names/styles and quantity for our own record.
The BrewBQ guys will be showing up to the next meeting to get any more request and ideas. Got word they were on a radio interview this morning up in Loo and they made sure to plug our presence at the BrewBQ. I’m really excited about how enthused these folks are to have us, so please make them feel welcome at our next meeting and for those participating in the BrewBQ please have any questions or suggestion ready for Joe and any other of the committee that drives down.
