Damn TOM BURNS! You are going to bring a yeast expert to this. Not nice. I have read a good bit, however, I have only cultured 2 samples to date. Guess I will now have someone there to point out all of my mistakes, Like I don't do a good enough job on my own of looking like an ass, now you are bringing me assistants.tompb wrote:I posted to the poll post. Rob from Red Star will be there. Maybe we can get an informed opinion.
I new a guy that worked with yeast at red star, Jon. He can to Teach a Friend to Homebrew at BA's a few years ago. One thing they do hear is supply yeast for ethanol production. I think it is still a French company.

I agree strongly with Tom sentiments.
Thank's a bunch Rob & Kelly, you really added to the tech meeting. It was wonderful having someone there with so much knowledge and experience with yeast culturing.
We hope that you will consider joining us on a regular basis for tech and social meetings and perhaps joining the club.
Just as a follow-up on the last meeting.
For those of you who are interested in starting to farm brewing yeast please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on places where supplies can be had.
I also intent to follow up on this topic by posting a white paper to the forum that has the recipe for the culture media some instructions on creating a sanitary environment and where to get supplies.
Also Rob was kind enough to leave some culture scrapers and pipettes at my place for culturing if anyone is interested in some of them please just let me know.

Sorry for the delay, things have been crazy at work. Anyway, I am planning to come to the meeting this Thursday and I will be bringing glassware with me. Here is a very brief list of flasks but if there is something that you want, post it, and I will see what I can find.
The pictures are generic but will give an idea of what the flasks look like.

250mL
500mL
1000mL
2000mL Wide Mouth (size 13 stopper)
4000mL
Flat Bottom Florentine http://www.indigo.com/images/product/572.jpg
500mL
1000mL
2000mL
6000mL
I also have tons of tubes for culturing, condenser tubes, vacuum flasks, filter flasks, fleaker flasks, nalgene graduated jugs...
Too much too list. I will attempt to bring some pics of my store room on Thursday.
For prices I am thinking $7.50 for 1000mL, $15 for 2000mL, $25 for 4000mL, and $35 for 6000mL. Smaller flasks we can talk about. I am not looking to make much money, just happy to clean out some space.
See you on Thursday.
