Cedar Falls Grout Beer Festival September 25th
Cedar Falls Grout Beer Festival September 25th
Fellow Nuts,
We've been asked to attend the this festival again. We missed it last year I believe, but have been there in the past. This is a unique event as I believe it takes place inside the museum, with a band and takes place in the evening.
I'm still getting details and there is no website for this yet, but before I send any commitment back I wanted to gauge interest from the group.
Keep in mind this is just a few weeks after BrewBQ and the Iowa fest of beers.
Please sound off on interest, I'm looking for three our four folks to make enough of a presence to sign on for this.
Also it sounds like they are removing the need for drink tickets this year, and the same premise if you bring a keg, you get in free as long as we don't show up with 15.

Travis,
I think I can do this one as well. As usual, I can't bring a keg, but I'll have a Pale Ale and a Munich Helles ready to go in bombers, plus I might be able to save some odds and ends from what I brought to Brew-B-Q. So enough for special pours of at least 3 kinds.

As a reminder this very saturday is the CF beer fest in the museum. It goes from 5-9, but you can get there as early as 1... if you feel you need to tailgate or something.
Thsi is an indoor event, with music and food. We are set up in the booth next to the CF club, as well as in a people chocie award for best home brwe. Right now CF is bringing about ten kegs.
now I'm not asking to bring that much, but I hope its just not me up there. I know a couple of you half raised your hands, they have been advertising our precense there through print and I'd hate to back down. I'm hoping we can at least get 4-6 brews up there to represent.
I'd be happy to carpool with someone if they need a ride, but i think my wife is going, so with gear I might only be able to get one or two more peeps in there.
Also, if you just feel like going up and raising havoc, its 20 bucks at the door. Come up and vote for us!!
I'll post driving directions and some other advice i got here soon from the CF club.
I think tom is out of this one, but maybe we can borrow the tap box?

I'm planning on bringing some beer. I'm still restocking after events in August, but I have a few passable beers. Here's the list:
Vanilla Short & Stout (if my vanilla experiment works)
Helles Birthday (Munich Helles)
Going Pale (Pale Ale)
I only have 3 22's of each so these should be specials.

no problem, I'm just getting back on top of things for brewing and will likely be blowing the dust off some meads and ciders I'll see if they pass off as special beers, plus bring the keg from our big brew day.
I might try to knock off Tom's ideas with the pitcher, but use the mead and see if I can kick it up on the fly.

Cedar Falls Grout Beer Festival September 25th
Ok, so let me see if I can cover both the where and who.
First off this is at:
5 – 9 PM Saturday Sept. 25
Grout Main Building – Not sure if this is an official name of the building
503 South Street
Waterloo, Ia
We will be located in the Atrium of the building next to the CF brew club which many of you might have hung out with from the Amana beer festival recently.
Best place to unload equipment is along the curb of W. Park Ave I’m told. And you can start setting up as early as 1 pm, but I will likely not be there until between 3-4 and the CF club is shooting for 3.
I don’t have an official list yet, I do know CF club is bringing almost 12 kegs. What we have unofficially right now bring beer is:
Travis
Randy
Canadian J???
Kurt????
Kent???
The festival has been advertising the CR beer nuts participation and were in direct competition with the CF club for an award. Not sure we have the momentum to compete but I don’t want to bail out at this point due to lack of participation so if any of you can donate or help serve that would be great, I think we had more interest early this year or maybe folks are being quiet and going to surprise me kind of like brewBQ. I know many folks are a bit strained form the last two comps, I’m brewing like crazy but going to have to dig into the bottle vault to find something interesting to pour as everything I have is bubbling away. So I appreciate all the further efforts and realize this might just be out of the cards for some.
I’m also bringing the beer from the big brew day… although I should probably do a quality check. I just picked it up today from the brewery.
Either way, I’m looking forward to this one as it’s a considerable change of pace being that its indoors, at night, bands and food vendors. I don’t think we need a lot of folks or beer, but hope we can at least get 4-5 of you out there and have about that many beers to pour as well. Decent presence and a damn good time I’m sure if we can get those kind of numbers.
I know some of the CF crew is all ready looking to go out afterwards.. if your so inclined to whoop it up further.. Our now moved on veteran Rippe can show you the CF/loo ropes of his home turf.
Hey, even if its just Randy and me, were goin go tear it up BEERNUT style in CF!!!
Like I mentioned before if someone wants to meet me at my house, I could probably carpool up with at least one other brewer as I’ll have the wife and equipment in the car as is.
