IT'S PRE-BREW DAY YOU BREWERS OF DISASTER
Today is the day to drop off your vessels, anytime between 3PM and 9 PM (they close at 10 PM).
Label your equipment such that the label is not easily removed. I recommend labeling carboys and bungs; buckets and lids; kegs (and lids?).
Beer Nuts Palate Calibration Rally

(optional) is at 7 PM tonight, at Lion Bridge.
The club committed to pay Lion Bridge for the number of attendees, as of yesterday morning, which is for 21 participants (or $630). If you have not paid your entry fee, please do so today and post your T-shirt size here- Dan's instructions on how to pay are quoted below.
THERE IS AS MUCH AS 90-GALLONS REMAINING - anyone wishing to increase their wort volume, you can
add to your original 10-gallons in increments of 5-gallons for $15 per 5-gallon increment - on a first come, first served basis. Contact me if you would like to add wort to your entry.
Hope to see you tonight!

I'm going to make a special trip down there at 3 PM to drop off. Daryl you talked me into taking two buckets instead of Cornys. I was concerned about the possibly for spillage on the way home (I live 21 miles away), but I then remembered I have two 6.5 gall fermentation buckets. With the extra head space they should be fine. Much less of a PITA that trying to transfer the wort out of the Corney when I boil.
Sorry I can't make it for the 7 PM palate calibration. I wish I could. Should be a fun project overall and help me get caught up on my supply...

Without lids, that could be a little dicey - spillage wise. But even with lids, there might be a little leakage - so I am making a note to throw a tarp down in the back of my suv and catch any leakage. And I think I will secure them, just so they can't fall-over.....talk about a recipe for disaster!

I am going to pick up another orange lid from Home Depot on the way. The ones with the rubber O-ring are usually fine.

Welcome aboard Derek.
Vessel drop of is today....make sure they are well labeled (tops, buckets, carboys, bungs, etc.) so you make sure you get your own equipment back.
We've proposed a palate calibration session at 7 PM, if you're interested in having a beer.
Were you asked for your T-Shirt size on Eventbrite? Just curious, I have you down for an XL.

I'll try to make the calibration...
No eventbright did not ask for shirt size...it was essentially just a shopping cart for a "ticket" to the event.
Going to go sanitize a couple buckets right now.

Marc Morehouse, the Gazette Iowa Football, Hoopla Beer Dude, is interested in doing a story on the wort rally. This is another great opportunity to get information out about our club, and the general Cedar Rapids beer scene. He covered our tech meeting at Turner Alley about Belgian Yeast in Hoopla.
He knows about the wort rally, and I told him a bunch of beernuts would be brewing tomorrow at about the same time. He would like to do a quick fly by interview with some of the Brewers participating in the rally. Questions may include topics such as; What is your plan? How long have you been working on your beard? What smells Squatchy? and maybe a picture of you and your system.
He will be at Lion Bridge around 4 to talk to some people during the wort pick up. I told him I would try to get some names, addresses, and times that people would be brewing tomorrow night.
If you are interested please reply with your name, address, and time you will be brewing by 2:00 pm tomorrow. I will forward the information to him.
