I have an extra couple laying around if you need one.

Cool! You going to the meeting Thurs? We can talk more about it then.

Sorry -- a Tues/Wed business trip to San Diego means I have to stay home and give my wife a break on Thursday. I'll PM you and we can work something out.

Translation: I'm going to be so hung-over from my business trip that I won't be able to make it to the meeting. ;)

Nonsense -- I'll be doing all my drinking on Tuesday. I just found out there is a Pliny vs Pliny (Younger vs Elder) event at 5 pm a couple of blocks from my hotel tomorrow evening.

In the head-to-head, Pliny the Younger won and it wasn't even close. (For what it's worth, I would say the DIPA at 3B is much closer to Pliny the Younger than Pliny the Elder.) The biggest difference I noticed was in the nose. The Younger had a much more intense aroma profile than the Elder. It also had a more resiny/chewy hop character in the finish, but that difference wasn't as noticeable as the nose. They're both oustanding and I can see why people wait in line for an hour for The Younger, but I'd much rather just brew a batch.

Also, have any of you guys ever had Ballast Point's beers? They're really fantastic and worth trying if you make it out here. Supposedly they'll ship to Iowa.

Yes, Ballast Point makes some nice beers. I have seen them at Benz before.

I have a Sculpin clone recipe if you're interested. Supposedly its the original recipe before it was called Sculpin. Its changed since then but its still mighty tasty. I've done it twice so far. It might be my favorite IPA that I've brewed.
