Looking for Grain Mill

For what it's worth, I've been using a corona mill for over a year. I hook up a cordless drill to mine and I crank through 5-6# of grain in a few minutes. It would be lot faster if I fashioned a bigger hopper and set it up to empty right into a bucket. It's not much slower than the roller mills. I'm sure the crush quality is a lot easier to dial in on the roller mills.

Once thing that makes a huge difference with this type of mill is malt conditioning. There are some posts on our forums and many on the big brew forums if you want to learn more about it. I basically use a water mister to add a small amount of moisture to the grain a few hours before I brew. this softens up the husks and greatly reduces the tearing.

What about the modified Pasta Machine.

I actually have the Marcato pasta machine it appears in the picture, wonder if I could use it somehow, it appears the only different are the tubs, one up top and bottom.

Has anyone used a pasta machine?

I think a pasta machine pulverizes. You just want to crack the grain. The corona mill can be a good starting place. A real mill will improve efficency.
