Tony has recommended the parking lot by the tennis courts at Kennedy High School as he and Tim are near there. That would be preferable to me rather than making three stops in CR. Is that close to you, Matt? I will plan on being there around 8AM or shortly after.

That works fine for me. I may also give Tim a call and drop off my entries with him Friday. I have a cousin stopping in town to stay with me Friday on his way to Duluth, MN from Dallas, TX. That means Saturday morning I may not be in very good shape at 8 AM. I have a coffee stout I wasn't going to enter until I tasted it last night. Now I just need to get it carbonated. Thanks again for making a run to Des Moines. I was on the fence last week but decided I should enter something.

Kennedy tennis courts would be perfect for me.

Entries delivered. El Bait Shop has a nice line of Founders on tap now. I sat right in front of them, should have taken a picture!

Guys, I was enjoying our brief beer talk and didn't remember to ask you Tim, if you had Matt's entries included with yours? I didn't open the bag that the bottles were in to check. Hope I didn't miss any.

Going to look now for Bela Fleck tickets!

I had a long Friday and decided not to enter. The coffee stout I was going to throw in was not carbonated yet so I passed. I sent Tim a text well after 8 as I was not with this world yet at 8 AM on Saturday.

They posted the winners: http://ibuopen.com/

Randy got first for his Foreign Extra Stout, although it looks like he belongs to his own club.

Clint got second for his cider.

Congrats guys!

Thanks. I'm not sure how the club name got mixed up. I'm pretty sure the labels and entry form had CR Beer Nuts on them.

I was pretty shocked that I got first, especially in a heavily contested category. That beer was my first attempt at making the club RIS (without the liquorice), and my first try at such a high gravity beer. I missed my OG by over 15 points, and then it didn't finish out as dry as I wanted. So the result was a decent beer but it was not at all what I was shooting for. I only entered it on a whim, and went through all the Stout style guidelines and decided it was more or less a stronger Foreign Extra if you used the "tropical" version description. I guess it shows that it worth entering beers even if you're unsure about them.
