I just want to clarify Matt's comments. The club will pay the expenses of the driver (share of the van, gas and their food/drink), but the other passengers will split the cost on a pro-rata basis. However, the club may defer part of the cost for club members - something along the line of $10 per person, as we discussed at the meeting. Friends or spouses who come along will not have their cost subsidized by the club, this is for members only. We were really hoping we'd have enough people who wanted to go to get a bus, but maybe we'll try to plan another trip in the fall or next spring.

Larry,
I think a sign up post should be placed here on the forums, here in the members section. You could put the current list up but allow for other member sign-ups.
There were several people not in attendence last night (Mark,Big T, and Bob, and several others) off of the top of my head. That have not been able to have input on whether they would be wanting to go.
A quick raise of hands at a meeting really did not allow for people to have time to investigate the breweries or the route thoughly enough for them to make a decision.

I'll put something out there over the weekend and will send an email to any member that didn't make it last night. Good idea. I agree that there wasn't a lot of time to commit last night, but we have had a post on the site since last month telling people what the plan is and asking for feedback (for current members only, of course). I think Tony B said he wanted to go, but he is traveling this week and couldn't make the meeting. We may indeed have enough for the bus that holds 29 by the time all is said and done. But we need to get a final list in about a week to make it work. If not, maybe we can plan on a fall trip instead; give people more notice to plan for it.
Thanks again for hosting last night.

Larry,
I say we go as on the 28th. I am chomping at the bit to get down to New Glaris. We already have enough to go on the trip in some form or another. Lots of times a smaller group is even better. I just didn't want people to feel that they had read about it but never had a chance to sign up for it.
I am still kicking myself over missing out on the grain order!

Yes, we plan to go (John and I), so that's 2 more seats filled. A bus would be more comfy and have more storage room to bring back beer!

Below is the cost to rent the 29 passenger bus. This would make it $51 per person plus you are supposed to tip your driver. We could give each club member $10 off which uses about $300 of our club funds. I probably don't want to shell out $50 bucks just for the ride and then spend money on top of that at four breweries. It would be much cheaper to rent one or two passenger vans and find our own volunteers for drivers. I would drive if I had too, but would still want one beer at each brewery. I think I could handle one pint every three hours and remain legal.

Matt:
Thanks for the update. Our 29 passenger coach is available on June 28. The coach has a DVD system, reclining seats, and a restroom. The rate for the trip you outlined below on the 29 passenger would be $1475. We would also need a $250 refundable damage deposit.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if you want to book the coach.
Thank you,
Nick Greteman

I will go on the trip. If we rent vans, my wife is willing to go as a driver. It seems to me that renting vans is so much cheaper that it makes the whole trip very affordable. I understand some people want to stay overnight, but I am not one of them. I prefer to return the same day.
