Oh. You haven't met Francis yet. He recently built his own stainless conical (and has never brewed yet). That guy has just the right level of awesome and crazy to become a legend in the beer nuts. I think he's going to give Tom Burns a run for his money.

Speaking of SS conicals, does anyone in the club have one? I've been looking at the Stout Conicals, but haven't been able to come up with a good reason to get one.
Being shiny isn't a good enough reason?

I've got two 7.2 gallon SS conical fermenters, one from Stout and one from a guy that sells on ebay from time to time. I like them both for different reasons; the one I got on ebay was a flat out steal. It works great, but the guy has raised his starting bid to close to that of Stout. The one I got from Stout is noticeably better quality. As Matt said, they are great for harvesting yeast and make a secondary completely unnecessary. If you want to take a look before you decide, let me know.

Just a quick update, looks like a week of soaking in starsan of an unknown concentration(i eyballed the mixture, at least 3 ounces to the 6.5 gallonwate, could have been more, looks like the scaling has been disolved.
