I'm seeing a 30% chance on KCRG.com. If necessary, we can postpone a week, but I'd like to wait until Friday to call it.

Played around with my Sears Craftsman chainsaw last night and I'm sad to say that after close to 30 years of service it's finally given up the ghost.
Anyone have suggestions on buying a new one? I'm not looking for over an 18 inch bar.

I would go with a Stihl too. I have a Husqvarna that I really love, but the small shop where I bought it is closed now. Sled shed sells the Stihl. My buddy has one and likes it.
My Husky has not been feeding chain oil properly lately and I need to get it fixed. Did all the cleaning and tinkering I can. Anybody know a good shop to work on this? Other than the chain oil issue it runs like a champ. Never quits on me and has no vibration so you can cut all day without much fatigue, which I often do.

The forecast looks like there's a 50% chance of rain on Saturday, but it might not be here until the afternoon. I'm going to advance the start time and say that anyone who wants to come out and cut wood in the morning is welcome to do so. Let's say a 9:30 AM start time. If you want to come later in the day, you're still welcome to do so. If it's raining, don't bother - I'll find a follow up weekend. (I've never had to run a chainsaw in the rain, but it strikes me as an equally unpleasant and unsafe activity.)

Also, Kim says that anyone that got apples last fall and wants to come help pick up tree trimmings is welcome to come do so. She's got about half the trees done and there are plenty of branches to drag over to the burn piles (or take home).

Anyone that couldn't make it out last weekend that still wants some apple wood is welcome to come out this weekend to cut apple trees. We have plenty remaining. Feel free to stop by anytime after 9:30 AM.
Also, for anyone concerned about not getting apples this fall, be assured that's highly unlikely to happen. Last year we had a pretty normal crop, had an extra 100 people come out to pick (all those random hippies that showed up), and around half the apples still hit the ground. Despite cutting down half the trees, there will still be way more than we need. An average tree can produce 200-400 pounds of apples per year and we have still have 30 trees (6,000 - 12,000 pounds). If I recall correctly, we only pressed around 2,000 pounds of apples last year.

I'm not going to have another dedicated day/time for folks to come cut apple wood, but will make time for anyone else that wants some before I burn it. If you're interested, text me or send me a PM with a time that works for you.
