I am in! I have not attended this event in the past, but I like going to New Bo for a beer from time to time. So, this should be fun.

That means Tim needs someone to pour for him.

Hey peeps!

We want to ensure that the Beer Nuts are clearly a presence in this event. So to further that cause, I have made up the following word document you can feel free to crib from or alter at your discretion to place on your table at the fest.

I encourage its use, but we can keep it free-form as long as the logo is on there somewhere. Let me know if you need any help with the file.

Thanks!

Congrats to Timmy for 2, yes TWO, 1st place trophies for pulled pork and brisket (and a near miss on chicken)!!!

Unfortunately, the Nuts got skunked in the beer competition. Some crazy judging going on. Won't go public about the details, but ...

I apologize for some of the judging. I was very disappointed with some of the scoring and the lack of comments. The problematic people won't be invited back next year.

Thanks for the comments, but please know that the judging issues didn't diminish what a good time was had. Thanks for organizing a great event - if you put it together again next year I'll be there pouring beer.

I agree with Lee. Yes, I was disappointed to see some people's score sheets. But overall the event was fun and it seemed well organized. For next year I'd either get experienced judges or do away with the judging all together.

I agree. The thing is... these people were all either head brewers or certified Cicerones. They should have known better.

Well, not necessarily. I don't think either is generally trained in BJCP judging nor are necessarily familiar with all the styles. I would be happy to help either judge or run others through some basics. Our club has regular competitions and one reason we do it is to train people to judge. You are welcome to join us. We will be judging one in the next couple of weeks.

anyone heard anything about people's choice? I'm not expecting to win, but it would be nice to know.
Bad people drink bad beer. You don't usually see an empty bottle of Rochefort tossed onto the side of the road

We announced it on Saturday, but people must have missed it. Entry #10 won peoples' choice this year.
