Yes. We are square with Benz and I updated our site on AHA site.daryl wrote:According to the AHA website, this year's Big Brew Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 2.
Are we participating as a club?
From https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/ ... brew-2015/, the overall recipe/themes are:
"2015 Official Big Brew Recipes
Each year, we select recipes that AHA Big Brew attendees all brew in solidarity for National Homebrew Day.
The 2015 AHA Big Brew recipes come from three-time AHA Ninkasi Award winner and current BJCP President, Gordon Strong! This year’s beers are all medal-winning recipes from Gordon’s upcoming book, Modern Homebrew Recipes, to be released in May 2015, which include Columbus Pale Ale, Old School Barleywine and Killer Kolsch.
Access the extract and all-grain versions of these recipes on the AHA Big Brew webpage."

How many people plan on brewing that day? I'd be tempted to get an extract kit or two to get the keezer filled back up.

Not brewing, but drinking and grilling! Have BACONATOR will travel!
Who's bringing the grill??
I was thinking about a COSTCO run next week, should I pick up some plates, plastic silverware, cups, etc.? I already have a ton of paper napkins that I could bring. They sometimes have a sale on Competition grade Kingsford; if so, should I grab a bag?

I will commit to an extract batch if I remember to get to Joe's this week. He is only open a few days this week. Has anyone used the extract kits he sells or should I pay shipping from NB and get a better kit? Thinking something light like a heffe or a kolsh

I've used the Irish stout kit. It was just fine.

Re: Big Brew Day
I've used the weissenbier kit he sells. As good as the basic kits from NB/Midwest/Austin.
He also has BIAB kits, too, now if you wanted to go that route.

If I'm not already busy. I plan on brewing a pale ale all grain.
Re: Big Brew Day
While rummaging through the freezer, found the leftover bag of Tomahawk hops from the Craze club at last August's Festival in Independence. They are in Foodsaver bags in 1 and 2 oz portions. I will bring them on Saturday for anyone that wants some.
