Thanks! I'm looking at maybe installing this one as Step 1 of moving my brewery to the basement (in place of an old bath tub I currently use for cleaning).

Cool! Nice big sink! I will be so happy not to have to clean my gear in the shower anymore!!!

Plumber finished up in my brew room today - woo, hoo - working plumbing! Only a handful of odd/ends left to finish up, but I am hoping to do the christening brew session this weekend!!

What did you do for huge vent hood? Also how big is the space you're renovating?

The brew room is 18' x 10'. The vent hood is a standard 18" model.

Thanks.

Got the one table set in place and the shelf adjusted where it would clear the sump piping underneath. Starting to look like a brew room.

IT'S DONE!!!!

Construction finished up this morning with the last bit of painting and putting down the carpet strip.

Inaugural brew (Baltic Porter) is tomorrow! WOO-HOO!

Still gotta figure all where all my brewing shit is going to go, but glad to get started on it.

Tap Fridge is the next project. Might have to wait until after the holidays to start on that.

After a couple of false starts Thursday and Friday, finally got the inaugural brew session in yesterday afternoon - Baltic Porter. Went OK for a first time in the new setup. Got some kinks to work out over the next batch or so to get my process dialed in. Some of it was just being rusty, not having brewed since August. Some of it was just "shit happens," like the brand new stick lighter for the burner didn't want to work, so had to go upstairs to the kitchen and get the old one. One thing that did work well, doing it for the first time, was using my sous vide immersion circulator to heat up my sparge water. That's going to be a keeper.

Fermentation is percolating away this morning. Just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Building a Brew Room

Post by czubak »

Wife gave me the ok to move brew central to the basement. LOTS to consider and work out for the space I have available. Have access to NG, sewer for drainage, water and relatively easy vent access.

I have roughly 125sf plus some other unfinished area for shelves and storage around the corner from this area.

This area would be for fermenting and storage.
