Here is a map to our farm. You can see that from Cedar Rapids or Marion, going north and intercepting County Home Road (E34) is the simplest way to go.

Arriving via County Home Road
Going east on County Home Road, you will pass through the little village of Whittier. Once you have passed Whittier, turn right on the first blacktop heading South; that is Springville Road (X20) and our driveway will be the first one on the left.

Arriving via HWY 151
If you are familiar with Springville, you can go out HWY 151 and exit at the Springville water tower (you'll see a bank and Casey's from the highway) and work your way along Springville Road to the main road through town and head north (in town X20 is called Broadway). Once you are clear north of town, our driveway will be the last one on the right, just before you reach the stop sign at County Home Road.

It looks like the weather will be pretty nice.

The fire pit will be going to take off the chill.

If the weather cooperates and the winds are calm, we will have a nice bonfire just before sundown.

Hope to see you all here in Saturday.

If you get lost or need more information, please call Marilyn or I at our home phone 319 854-5983.

Wife is prepping the girl for homecoming so if I come it might be just me and my step son. Weather should be great.

The weather is shaping up such that it looks like an outdoor kind of day; particularly if the winds stay calm.

We will have some outdoor furniture around the firepit and on the deck and our deck a very wide set of wooden steps to sit on; but to assure yourself a seat and your family, you might want to bring some chairs or a blanket.

Let us know if you will need any special support(i.e. access to the oven, electricity, etc.); there should be room in the oven, but we can also fire up a small counter top convection oven too if needed.

Paper plates; disposable dinner utensils; napkins, and plastic cups will be available to all.

Bring some walking/field shoes if you would like a nice stretch of the legs; we are on 34+ acres that has been fallow for 20+ years and I have mowed trails for walking/exploring (goodle map our property on the satellite view and you will see what I mean).

If we need anything else, private message me and Marilyn and I will do what we can do.

See you Saturday!

Man, I would love to get into the rib comp but the wife has me booked for Homecoming duties on Sat. If I can get some time free, I might stop out for a quick one. It's been a long time since I've able to hang with the club. I think I've made it to one club meeting this year.

I hope to make it out but it all depends on weekend pojects. I have a guy that might be at my house Saturday afternoon to take down a couple big trees for me. This is a project two years in waiting and 4 tree companies later. I will be busy playing lumberjack with him if we get to it Saturday. If not, I will try to make it out. Really want to try some of those ribs.

If the competition is at 4, are we planning to coordinate the pot luck with that? A late afternoon meal? We need to remember that this is a family event with kids.

That's the plan.

So folks are welcome to come anytime in the afternoon.

We will have lemonade and water for the kids and Designated Drivers....hot coffee or tea (P&G Tips for the Brits) on request.
I am sure some folks will bring snacks to share that will be available before the Rib-B-Q...so one on should go hungry.

I can drag a peewee soccer goal our of the barn if any of the kiddos would like to bring a Soccerball to kick around - I might even be able to find mine. Otherwise, come and enjoy the afternoon with a few beers (or more than a few).

And parents might want to consider packing a change of clothes and shoes for the kids...we have a creek (ankle to calf deep at this time). From my Scouting experiences, I know if water is available someone is going to get wet!

For the avid college football fans....there will be two TVs will be going for people to check scores.

So, final count is 5 of us in the BBQ - Randy, Tim, Steve, Travis and me.

Tim will bring his chafing dishes. Do you need sterno? Do you have enough 1/2 pans or does Steven need to bring some?

Daryl has plates, etc. I have a shit ton of napkins if we need extras.

I will bring the voting tickets, ballot cups, and tally sheet.

Anything else?

I plan on arriving around 3:30. I will bring 3 chafing dishes, and a bunch of half pans, should be room for 6 people. I have some sterno, bring some if you have it. I have a bunch of plates, cups, napkins, and flatware I will bring too.
