I just want everyone to make sure you read the entry for Matt F's "Fuck Your Face" beer. He wrote a poem for the description!

I basically copied the lyrics for the Phish song of the same title but edited it to fit the beer. I also had to trim it a bit to fit 500 characters. Never the less, I am happy with the result.

That beer is dry hopping as we speak and will get kegged later tonight and force carbed for the fest. You won't find a fresher batch of this one. It was brewed on 8/14 so only two weeks from brew date to fest beer. I did add a little more hops. 21.5 oz. of hops in the 5 gallon batch. Smells great and I am certain will be ready to smash palates.
PS, I am bringing 2.5 gallons of the FYF IPA to the fest. Too expensive to brew to not keep some for myself.

Re: 2015 Hombrew Fest at Benz
So, if you are pretty much f'ed outside of work like I currently am (I have a major home disaster now to take care of immediately) and might only be able to show up for a couple of hours to the event, what hours should those be? What is the consensus??? Off line I've had suggested later so I can head on over to Bricks (and I know I can use it).. but on top of the bottles I dropped off to Daryl, I stayed up last night until 1 AM making a 5 gal keg of Ginger Ale... so would you guys want that "early"? I imagine delivering it coldish would be important.... It's on 30 PSI in the keezer right now....
Are you all set up to serve soda or should I bring a picnic/cobra with me as well? I can't bring my CO2 tank, I'm really not currently set up for moving it...
Let me know what you all think...
Thanks,
Fred Spinner

We have a cold plate so temp of the keg isn't as important. Colder the better obviously. Last year I think we left sodas on tap all day long. So whenever it arrives we will tap it.

More Important would be not to over carbonate your kegs. They tend to pour well even when warm as long as the carbonation isn't that high, although if you force carb using the shake method be sure not to over do it.
We will have pitchers there if beers are pouring foamy

I'm bringing my two-tap jockey box and CO2 tank for sodas. It's set up for ball-locks, but QDs are twist-off, so easy enough to swap out if necessary. I assume the club has some pin-lock QDs if needed?
Re: 2015 Hombrew Fest at Benz
If all works out properly, I will have a soda in a pinlock keg. But, my pinlock QD will have a MFL on it...so if your gas lines have an MFL male ends...we should be able to make a connection.TappedOut wrote:I'm bringing my two-tap jockey box and CO2 tank for sodas. If no, what other means do we have to hook them up?

Yes. The club has some pin lock connectors that can be used too.

I am bringing a tap handle for FYF 3IPA. Which label should we use? My vote is uncensored. I need to clean up the uncensored version (has a spell check line under Slappy).

I'm going to be in town on Saturday and will help in any capacity I can. Can whoever has the club t-shirts bring mine (xl) to the fest?

Re: 2015 Hombrew Fest at Benz
Thanks, guys.. I'm going to try to be there the whole time but likely I will skip Bricks.. so I suppose I will try to get there early.. about noon... I can get some of my work done in the morning that way... it's a good thing Labor Day is coming up and I have an extra day off... I'll whine a little about the last several weeks at the event.. it's all been too depressing to post.. at least no one in the family has a fatal disease....
My kegs are converted Ball Lock. I did that because everyone else around here (including non club members at work who homebrew) uses ball, and I learned almost the hard way that you need to replace the poppets anyway when refurbing a keg.. it's only $2-3 more to get the conversion posts instead of just the poppets... The one I am bringing with the Creme Soda is a Firestone Coke 5 gallon with conversion posts. Since it is brand new (got it Tuesday) I've been "burst" carbonating it.. so hopefully it's just taking in the CO2 and it isn't leaking. I haven't had the time to worry about checking everything so I'm closing the valve on the tank between bursts. 30 PSI at 38F.. which is about right for soda. I suspect it's fine though..
I'll take my two MFL pin post connectors as well and leave them in my car.. if someone comes up short for a pin lock I can run out and get 'em that way... I bought them "just in case"...
