Sorry gents..I have been scheduled that day with Monday and Tuesday off..
Re: Munich Helles Judging - Call for Judges
Daryl , If needed I can be available on wednesday. Although if you can get it done without this would be preferred as I have other things I can do.

I think I'm available any of those days to steward.

Looks like at least three judges for Wednesday. That should be enough to get the job done. Many comps only have two judges per category anyway with several doing the Best of Show round.

Re: Munich Helles Judging - Call for Judges
I will find a suitable location for us to judge, next Wednesday, May 25th, at 7:30 PM.
The judges (and stewards) are in luck, we have two commercial Munich Helles standards to use to calibrate our palates:
1) Weihenstephaner - Original Premium - Premium Bavaricum
2) Hacker-Pschorr - Munich Gold - Finest Lager
I scored the latter in my recent trip to Cincinnati, in the Beer Cellars of Jungle Jim's.
I'll also pickup an unsalted palate cleanser - either unsalted pretzels or corn chips.
If anyone else can judge, or would like to learn to judge, chime in and you can participate.

Re: Munich Helles Judging - Call for Judges
Finally, tonight is the night for raising some Helles.
Let's start promptly at 7:30 PM at the Iowa Brewing Company.
I will be bringing two industry standards for calibration (no clear or green bottles); a print out of the style description; scoresheets; and I will see if I can pick up salt free corn or potato chips as a palate cleanser...anything else?
Please bring your favorite writing utensil - pen, pencil, Sharpie, crayon, finger paint...whatever.
On a more serious note, Munich Helles can be a very clean beer and we our submissions are from our crackerjack brewers in the club. I am expecting the differences in these submissions will be subtle and the competition will be very tight....so keep those palates nice and clean.....I suggest a very bland meal (low salt, low spice) if you are eating before you come judge...or have an early dinner.
We are going to be tasting some really excellent beers tonight, I really hoping for some really high and tight scores.
Our judges/stewards this evening are:
Tony Browning
Lee Paulsen
Josh Peanasky
Dan White
Pat McCullough
If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to PM me.
