Cool. I heard that place is actually pretty good. Let me know what you think. A couple buddies almost bought that and wanted to make it a brewpub with me as brewer. The numbers did not work out to replacing my current income so it never happened.

Reminder that this tech meeting is tomorrow night. Weather looks good so means I won't have to run the plow to get you guys out at the end of the night which is nice. We currently have 16 members planning to attend with an estimated 12 vehicles so size looks good. We have had a lot more than that attend meetings in my basement back before we met at bars. So if more want to come, please do. Eric and Josh have a nice bit of information to share as well as home brewed and commercial examples of the style. Other members, including myself will also have some examples of the style. Should be a fun and informative evening.

Also, I am not making any snacks or anything for this so if you would like to bring some food to share with the crowd that would be great. See you Wednesday!

Great job on the tech Josh and Eric. I just kicked my NE IPA keg last night and might as well make #2 soon. Can the power point be emailed out or posted here for members to save?

Great Job, Guys! Learned a lot.

Still not 100% sure that I want to jump into the deep end of the whirlpool or not, yet; but you gave me a lot of good info if I do decide to brew one.

Thanks to Matt for hosting. Always a good time in the basement!

Don't fear the Whirlpool! For over five years now, I add maybe a 1/2 oz of hops or less at 60 minutes for even 10 gallons of Double IPAs and a bunch of hops in the Whirlpool. Usually no other additions during the boil. It can be as simple (and probably all it needs to be) to get your wort down to 180F-175F, stir with a spoon and throw in the hops. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then chill and rack to fermenter as usual.

Fun having a meeting in the basement again. Just like the old days except I went to bed at a reasonable hour instead of passing out on the couch and having my wife check to see if I am still breathing.

For dry hopping, how much are you adding per round?

The beers I had on tap were 10 oz. for 10 gallons. That is lighter than my usual. These beers use a lot of hops.

It is, but not referring to that one. A pound of hops to make a 5 gallon batch of NE IPA is not uncommon. FYF runs north of a pound by a little more each year. I am starting to think about this years FYF. The hop combinations always change. This year it will be brewed in the NE IPA style and close to meeting time to be fresh as possible. Thinking of some fruity/citrusy hops with enough dank to still be from me.
