Here is another cheap little gadget I can hook up to my sink to flush and rinse kegs with water. Uses same QD's as most of my brewhouse.

While I'm certainly not a pro plumber, I'm ok doing sweat soldering for all if necessary.

I would be interested, I have a pretty heavy duty pump I was given a long time ago that I don't use for anything, not sure it would work though because I don't think it is the submersible kind

That pvc stuff is easy. Purple stuff to prime. Then the glue. Push together. Done. Pvc crazy cheap too. I have some leftover tubing to donate. Regular table saw or miter saw makes cutting a snap.

How does pvc hold up to temperature and chemicals? Generally cpvc is used for chemical resistance and high temp.... pex is crazy easy to crimp in place too (fittings are $ though).

The temps I use for cleaning carboys is as hot as I can get out of the faucet. The PVC will hold up fine under those conditions.

I've seen no issues with PBW; but I have not use BLC through the system yet.

My guess is it should be good, since this stuff is also used in drains and has to withstand things like Draino. And for line cleaning, as Eric suggested, I wouldn't use temps much more than lukewarm.

I have pumped BLC, PBW, Star San, Oxi Clean through mine. No issues. I use tap water as warm as I can get it.

PEX is awesome for actual plumbing, but I think it would be a little too flaccid for this application.

I'm thinking once we get the list together of who all wants to participate in the DIY, we'll schedule a planning meeting to decide on things like design, building materials, etc. Then, we can put together the shopping list and the build plans. Example, if someone has a good tablesaw or bandsaw, we could pre-cut all the PVC to size and bring to the actual DIY to save some time (and maybe fingers!)

I have a chop saw that I'd use on the PVC.

I have a crummy table saw and a genuine Rockwell model 14 bandsaw. Either would be just fine for precutting. I can volunteer to precut the pieces.

It looks like this is a go.

With summer coming on, along with vacations, and Beer Festivals, we will plan on a tech meeting this Fall; perhaps in late September, for members to build their own Keg Washer or Keg Washer/Beer Line Cleaner combo.

We'll do two variations, one that uses a pond pump and another that uses a utility (i.e. sump) pump; both will be using PVC/CPVC.

We'll work out the cost per member, which will not include the pump.

We'll do the planning over the summer, and then issue a call to participate, sometime after Labor Day Weekend.

Im in on this too. Gonna need a separate brew shed with all this damned gear. Lol

What's the latest on this? I need to build one for carboys, kegs and line cleaning.

Side note, anyone know of the bast place to get faucet jumpers? Looks like around $8/ea for the fittings and then whatever tubing you desire.
