Oh, I see, you're one of those people that think the light goes out when you close the door.

Better yet, there is no light in any of my beer fridges. For real.

uv light is bad. No halogen, CFL or Leds. Low wattage Incandescent are fine in my mind.

I was impressed with the Fermentasaurus I saw at NHC. Simple, effective design and a great price point. Not quite as effective at yeast harvesting as the Catalyst, but I like the option to ferment under pressure.

That one impresses me. May have moved up to top of my list.

I too was intrigued. The ability to just screw on a double ball-lock lid with a floating liquid tube, and carb/serve right out of the fermenter, was also very interesting.

The weak link in the previous FastFermentor, was in the threads and the seals/gaskets.
It seems that many had issues will leakage through either the threads or past the gaskets.
Was there any mention as to how that part of the design was improved?

I stopped by their booth @ Homebrew Con and they gave me the new gasket for the lid. It's more like a traditional O-ring than the old flat washer style gasket. Haven't had a chance to use it yet to see how much of an improvement it is, but it has to better.
They also had the new 14.9 gal one there - it's pretty big and sits in a double-tiered stand. I don't think one person could pick it up if it had a 10 gallon batch in it.

You guys did see that the Catalyst guys are coming out with that design in stainless this year, right? I don't think they had pricing available yet though. That should be interesting. The main reason I've shied away from any of these is that none of them will fit into the dorm fridge I use for temp control, and obviously you'd not want to use them in a chest freezer type setup.

They make an insulating jacket for the Fast Fermenter which will allow some level of temperature control. Here's the link to the page with the info/video. BIY is a dealer for Fast Fermenter, so Joe might have one in stock or could easily get you one.

I will let you know how I like the Fermentasaurus. Should be at my house by July 4th.

Presume that you've been loving it?
I ordered the float ball assembly to use for serving in a keg, and it worked well as I had hoped. Just took a long time to find a distributor that had it in stock.
Now there's a local (to the USA) company selling them under their own branding:

I really like my Fermentasaurus and an improved version, is available now. The 3" bottom dump is a big improvement.

Ya, I saw that today and it jogged my memory of this thread.
Still would have to get a different shaped fermentation chamber before I could use it, but it's definitely on my radar - especially the new short 27L version

Getting two Fermonsters this week, no spigot - I think I can find a way to do a CO2 transfer - probably should have bought the spigots for backup.
Hope to fill them both with either a Pilsner/Lager this weekend.
