Do you harvest from the bottom of the fermenter after you keg the beer? Or during the krausen?
I've only harvested after draining the fermenter.
I've read that the yeast will be the ligher colored layer, and to try to scrap that off of the bed....but I never see that distinction. And, in my conical, unless I take the top off - the whole lot drains into the I place under the drain (usually a 2 qt canning jar).
My storage has been the little, squat 2 oz Ball canning jars, which worked well for Bedford yeast.
This is so easy, I'm kicking myself for not having done this sooner....getting yeast or waiting for yeast to be delivered is usually what holds up my brew days. Having it on hand, really helps. So, I'm with you, I will be doing this until I get burned on a strain....then dump it and repurchase...and begin again.

I store yeast in canning jars. Works fine but must keep cold!

I’ve used London Ale III a few times. Made a nice American stout, of course works well for NEIPA since it usually finishes between 1.017 and 1.023 leaving a little residual sweetness. I’ve got some in a mason jar in the fridge for my next beer, seems to perform pretty well with a starter, although with my wort rally beer it blew so much out of the blow off tube that I’m worried I lost too much yeast. 3 weeks and it’s only gone from 1.071 to 1.04.

You can use 1318 for many american ale yeast strains. House strain for many breweries. It can ferment clean and clear too. Just start it cold around 64 for a few days and let it rise up to 67 F. Hold it there until about done and then rise up to 70 F. Good idea to do a rest for this one.
