Didn’t Millstream originally request bold or unusual beers? Not sure if that matters since they change on the whim, but trying to stay in scope here.

I have a Munich Dunkel just coming out of the primary that will need lagering. I'll contribute if it turns out ok.

I do not recall tackling this topic at the November meeting. Lets get a rolling list of who is brewing something and what. We need to have six 5 gallon (1/6 barrel) kegs. I think they would prefer bigger and interesting beers. I am guessing we may have somebodies baltic porter. We need to have them a beer list by January 20th.

I will probably brew something but not sure what yet. I may do the Munich Amber Wit I just made, or a Dubbel. If you don't keg but what like to make something, I am sure myself or someone else in the club could lend a keg for the cause. So here is the start of the list.

Yes, they wanted big or unusual. So far I would say the beers meet the qualifications.

Name/Beer Style/Beer Name
Brian & Dave/Belgian Trippel/
Tony/Old English Ale/
Tom T/Russian Imperial Stout/
Jeremy/Dark Belgian Strong Ale
Jeremy/Imperial IPA
Tom B/Killer Bee
John/Munich Dunkel

Keep adding to the list and we will pick the best six bold and unusual beers.

BRING your Millstream Event beer

All, in order to narrow down the six beer entries, as well as make sure the six beers we have meet club approval, please bring a sample to our January 21st meeting. We need to give a final list to Millstream the next day as they are awaiting our list to start promoting this.

I want to remind everyone that we are the sole beer providers, we are the show, and proceeds and glory go to US. I want to make sure that the club agrees on the entries that will represent the club as a whole and we get the word out asap about the event so not only can we get a good turn out but make sure we make an impression both for admission and club awareness.

Dave and I are working admission details for club members as we determine how this limited attendance event is going to work.

Please contact Dave C or I if you have any questions.

I'm afraid the question of whether a Munich Dunkel is "bold and unusual" is moot. I'll bring a sample but there is an "off" flavor I can't describe but I hope someone can identify.

After two apparently unsuccessful attempts to post a reply, I'll try again.
The question of whether a Munich Dunkel is "bold and unusual" is moot. I'll bring a sample to the meeting in the hope that someone can help me identify the cause of an "off" flavor. I can't describe the taste, or aroma. I need to get this fixed before I dare brew again.

If Matt or Pottsie could bring an empty keg to the meeting so I can keg my beer, that would be great.

I just bottled a single 12 oz to bring to the meeting for club approval to submit. Hope it carbonates by Thursday night or doesn't blow up by then. Doing a single bottle, I had to resort to the 1/2 tsp corn sugar per bottle method. I did mix the sugar with a splash of water and microwaved it to boiling before bottling.

I'm going to be out of town for the meeting. I offered up a RIS, but have a flight that leaves in about 2 hours, so I can't get it to anyone. (Hectic weekend, and poor planning on my part.) I'll be glad to bring a sample later, or just keep my precious. It's really a little green still, anyway, but it should be coming into it's own about the time of the Benz fest.

Tony -- I've got an extra keg, and could arrange a meeting next week to drop it off, if you still need it.

Enjoy,
-Tom T

You telling me that you let a senior citizen run away with your property. You can still come to the meeting, but you better hang your head low!

Tony if you need one, I could probably spare one.

I know, its is terrible!. Seriously though, there was a guy in town selling kegs for $10 a piece and we split a dozen so half were his.

Tony & All –

I forgot Tony will probably not get me the list until after work tonight and I need to try and get this list to Millstream today. I know Tony can’t check his email at work so I’m hoping this finds many of you and you can send me your list that you gave Tony, including anyone interested in pouring any special tapings, these would just be a growler or a few bombers of something.

Hopefully Tony will chime in, but if not I appreciate everyone getting this list updated for me.

Here is what I think we came up with last night

Name/Beer Style/Beer Name
Brian & Dave/Belgian Trippel – not tasted
Tony/Old English Ale
Jeremy/Dark Belgian Strong Ale
Jeremy/Imperial IPA
Tom B/Killer Bee – Style??

Tom T/Russian Imperial Stout ??

I also have a very young Braggot (still in primary) I haven’t tasted yet, this could be a last resort if were still short a beer.

My notes from last night also listed "Brando" as offering up a beer, but I didn't catch which style or if it was a full 5 gals?

Killer Bee is an Imperial Honey Weiss. I will try to blend up another batch of Farmhouse Ale. It could be an hourly release.

I have plenty of the Munich Wit many of you tried last night. I suppose it is unusual because of the orange zest added in secondary and the malty grain bill from the munich. We can use it if we need it.

Does millstream want only beer? If they will accept mead I can contribute several bottles; I have a peach mead that I have been told is very nice. About 17-19% it is bold and unusual, but unfortunately not a "beer". Its available if its wanted.
