Well, only twice, I swear! But I probably checked it every two hours yesterday. I even sat and stared at it on more than one occasion. The millions of tiny bubbles (and flakes of crud) are kind of mesmerizing. Also, watching the foam burp kind of reminds me of the hot springs at Yellowstone.

The foam is really shrinking this morning. It cooled down to around 64 in my basement last night, and it should even out around 65-67 through today. So everything seems to be on target with what I read should happen

Before anyone starts with the jokes about how size matters....Here's my midget brewery in action. These were taken this morning, so about 45 hours after the yeast was pitched.

I tried doing an image link for these but it's not working. So I guess I'll do them as attachments...

Looks like beer to me!

Kinda like watching a lava lap. Good thing that I don't smoke weed anymore, or I'd sit there all day staring at it!

It's becoming beer. Looking forward to sampling.

Your picture reminded me of something. A tip for everyone, make sure to calibrate your Ale Pail. I found that the gallon markers on mine were way off.

Really? I wouldn't imagine that they would be off as a Gallon is a volume marker not a weight. You would think that is something that a monkey with a pitcher could get right. Guess I will be checking my volume markings tonight!

OK, after one week in the primary this is were it stands:
OG was 1.042
FG as of today is 1.012

I tasted it, and am a little underwhelmed at this point. It seems lighter and has a thinner mouthfeel than I expected. Flavor wasn't bad or off per say, but was a little weak. I plan to give it another week in the primary and then transfer to secondary if it doesn't settle out.

I know it will change some with more time, and carbonation will add a more satisfying feel too.

You'll be amazed at the difference carbonation makes - not just mouthfeel, but also taste.

Also, 1012 is pretty low, so don't expect it to go too much lower. Right now you're sitting at about 3.9% ABV. A good session beer.
