Recipe for Disaster - Competition Turn In

Post by daryl »

So I have a brief conversation with Quinton during the Happy Hour, and we talked about having the Recipe for Disaster (RfD) beers judged.

He is thinking that we should have a bottle turn-in, on Monday June 20 or Tuesday June 21, and then he would conscript some of the local brewers to assist him in tasting/ranking/judging our beers.

I suggest we use the competition labels that we use for our quarterly competitions, and we each submit two 12-ounce bottles.

Given they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, I will need to coordinate with Quinton as to how we transfer the beer to him....

Or....how about doing a turn-in at the next Beer Nuts Meeting?

Thoughts?

No worries Pat. We will find a way to get your brews to Lion Bridge.

Turn in at the next club meeting won't be easy for me, as I'll be gone almost all of next week. I need more time to dry hop and carbonate my beers. Turn in at Lion Bridge the week of the 20th would be easier.

I checked up on the disaster braggot today. Still fermenting slowly. Getting anything ready for a competition at the end of June is going to be dicey.

daryl wrote:We are only one month away from our Recipe for Disaster pour event; and here are a few more details about the event.

This will be an extended Happy Hour - Lion Bridge would like for us to set-up by 3 PM and pour until 7:30 PM.

So that we can properly prepare, we will need to know what beer(s) you are bringing. Randy Carris has setup the Recipe for Disaster as an in event on crbeernuts.herokuapp.com. Many of us have an account on herokuapp, and it is what we use to register beer for our pour events. Please login (or create an account and login) and register your beers for the Recipe for Disaster event. Place in your description if you will be pouring from kegs or growlers.

Please register as soon as you can, the earlier the better, so that we can get an idea of how much equipment we will need to set-up.

The herokuapp is only showing the Benz Beer Festival, but Randy assures me that this event will pop-up when it is within 30-days of the event (which should be sometime this weekend).

Cheers
Please post, in the next day or so, your Disaster at Meux entry/entries at http://crbeernuts.herokuapp.com. So far, three out of 21 participants have posted their entries.

We need a fairly accurate list to arrange how these beers will be evaluated.

Thanks,
Daryl

I am unable to log on to the site to enter my product. It doesn't like my password, and when I try to reset my password, it never sends me an email. It is unlikely I am going to get this fixed before I go on vacation.

At any rate. I will have a Chocolate Porter Braggot in a 2 gallon mini-keg.

I'll not be able to attend in person, Would I be able to drop off a couple labeled growlers there, or with someone else, to keep refrigerated before I head out of town?

eek.. I still have to get one of the two kegged and (counter pressure) bottled... I'll try to get the kegging done, the stuff tasted and named by Monday late. I'll be gone all weekend.. This time of the year does actually suck for me, but I will stop whining. The first one tasted pretty decent flat/warm so I like didn't embarrass myself. The second one is a bit more experimental and that is why it sat longer but I got to get it under control fast. ;)

Edited to say that I'll have at least one. If the experiment is good, I'll have two more as I intend on making the third by mixing the two different batches at bottling.
