Yes, we do need fire wood. I am going to bring what I can but can't get that much in my car. Anyone able to help Ted get his firewood to camp? Ranger said any firewood from the general area is acceptable.

Beer Camp 2011

Post by Mr T »

Texas Ted, I’m bringing my pickup.. although I have some stuff I was trying to swing by the dump since its along the way so I’m not sure how much wood I can bring, I only have a half ton truck, its taking me quite a few trips to the dump to remove all these old RR ties. If I skip the dump, I will have tons of room, either way I’m bringing some wood.

Do we need firewood?

I have a fair amount left over from this year's winter supplies. I just don't have a appropriate vehicle for transporting it.

We can always load up the truck before you place the RR ties in there. Could do it Sat morning or Fri night.

I just got a 60L dry barrel I will have in my canoe. If you want to bring something you don't want to get wet you can put it in my barrel when we meet up at the bridge.

Travis, just me and you so far for the 4 hour canoe. I'll email you to arrange what time we will meet and stuff. Tubers, meet us between 1 and 1:30. There will be a rental group that goes out at 1 so I figure we can stay behind them if we head out around 1:30. I am bringing some talls of Schlitz in honor of Tim.

4 Hour Float
Matt F, canoe, camp
Mr T (Travis), canoe, camp

2 Hour Float
Randy, tube, camp
Ted plus more, tube, camp
Jim P, tube, maybe camp

No Float, Camping Only

Ted, Jim, and anyone else doing the 2hr float: How do you want to do this? Do we want to meet at the boat ramp nearest the entrance to the group camp (where we exited the water last year) at say 12:45? I can take up to 3 others in my car. Someone will need to drive me back to retrieve it afterwards.

I will have to go get my car too Randy so we will find someone that can take us to our vehicles be it a floater or camper. Plan to exit at the boat ramp for now. I am going to check out the possibility of getting out at Group Camp Site #1. It is the only one with water access. It is not marked as reserved for camping this weekend, but is blacked out as unavailable. I will check it out and give you a call before I get on the water that morning. I have your cell number unless it has changed recently. That way if you guys meet at the boat ramp you can decide that you may want to leave all the extra vehicles at camp if we get out at the group camp ground. Will be nice just to walk our tubes up to camp. I added a picture of the boat ramp area to help folks find it.

It is going to be hot! Forecast is for a humid 87F degrees. I think it was hotter last year. The heat is easy to beat on the river. Just stay in the water. Make sure to bring beer, but also WATER! Need to stay hydrated. As some of you found out last year, you seem to get drunker during a hot day on the water. I can carry your coolers in my canoe if you need a way to haul them on the water. It cools down to a nice evening temperature for sleeping.

Also, does anyone have any horseshoes? There are three pits by our campsite, but you need to bring your own shoes. Bring something to eat too, food is not provided other than what we all show up with.

Boat ramp is fine. I can bring a car up too to drop a few people.

Will you (or anyone) have a 12V Boston valve pump? My purchased inner tubes use that style and I don't have one. If not, off to walmart to get my own.

So..... should I just load up my own car with whatever I can haul?

Or should I hold out for you and your weight problems?

Ted,
I have a dual-action hand pump that, while not DC, works pretty fast. I plan to "get pumped up" at the entry point since my craft takes up a lot of space.

I have a battery powered pump that may work that came with my air mattress. It has a couple of different attachments.

Looks like that can use 110. I'll bring along my power inverter.

You don't need the invertor for the pump. Mine is battery powered. I just used that pic to see if that was the kind of pump you need. I'll have it in the canoe with me when we meet up at the bridge. Works pretty good for the air mattress.
