Pouring Cider

Post by hickstr »

I'll be pouring for the Sutliff Cider Company all day at the Fest. Stop by for a few. I haven't been to a meeting in a long time so I hope you all recognize me...

Kent, I am usually not one to say no but that is really far out of the way for me. Amana is a straight shot down 151, about 23 miles from my house and the drive becomes 44 miles if I swing by your place. I definately cannot get you a ride home as I need to leave the fest shortly after 5 to pick up the family and get to my step dad's 70th birthday party at 6. Sorry man. If you get in a pinch for a way to get there I may be able to help you out, but try to hook up another option first.

Matt, no problem. I totally get that it's way out of your way. I'm planning to ride back with some friends. I have other options for rides, so it's not a huge deal. Thanks for the honesty.

Just asking...Do we know who is getting the "free" tickets. I just want to know if I need to buy one.

So here's what I have so far for contributions:
Kent 2.5 gal Imperial Hefe
Matt 2.5 gal "Over the line PA"
Tim 2.5 gal Melon American Wheat
Tom ?
Tony ?
Club 5 gal? RIS

Volumes are approximate. That said we have plenty of cap room. So if anyone else wants to get in on the action, speak up.

Good question. Not sure what has been decided at our executive level but maybe we could come up with a buddy system. How many do we get for free? If it is 5 then everyone get a partner and make sure one of you buys a ticket. Then you each pay half. Now if we only get 4 and we have more than 8 participants that would not work. I am bringing just one 2.5 gallon keg. If others have supplied more I would defer to them for the free ticket. Need to know soon though so we can get the ticket thing figured out. Tickets are $15 and they nearly sold out last year.

I was just thinking that splitting would be a good way to share the wealth. I can get a ticket pretty easily and would be fine doing that. Yes, we need to figure it out soon, the event is only a week and a half away.

I am happy to pay for my ticket. But I'm not sure when I'll get to amana. Is anyone making a ticket run?

I can Make a ticket run. And I, too can pay for a ticket. It's shitty that we need to have this conversation, but it is the reality of it. Millstream has put handcuffs on us and we need to deal with it, and that's something we have no control over. I would rather more people get involved here to represent the club at this event, and if me paying for a ticket will result in more people showing up, I'm OK doing that.

I'll go in on a ticket with someone. I was planning to bring 2-3 growlers for special pours. But if we have slots for beer I could bring 2.5 gallons of either a Kolsh or a Stout as well.

We should check with Mr. Burns as he is in Amana almost every day. Maybe we could procure his services.

Because we have to turn in the names for the 4 free passes with the registration that we had to submit back over a month ago, that's already set. Matt, Tom B, Kent and I are the names on the list, as we were the first to offer up beer (see earlier posts in this thread).

I am more than willing to partner up with someone so we only pay half ($7.50 each). Or if we have more than 8 folks coming, we could go 2/3 ($10 each).

I am bringing 3 gal of Oktoberfest that I made back in early April and lagered until last weekend, when I kegged it. It's naturally carbing in the keg, so I hope it's got bubbles by the 4th.

Yeah I'm really thinking people that bring beer should get a discount, even if we have to do it ourselves. That said, Let's hear from those that want to bring beer. Randy I think a half keg would be welcome. If you bring a half keg we still have 5 gallons of cap to spare. I have several half kegs that I can bring, but I would rather let others get involved.

I was planning on paying this year. I think most I've gotten in for free. I can stop and get tickets, how many do we need?
I'm bringing a Scottish 70 and pouring from a mobile unit.
