Tony,
Looks like bear hunting registrations start May 1. Not sure if it matters to you or not, but you can only sign up for hunting black bears in MI. The state seems to be kind of racist when it comes to bears. Apparently they don't feel the population of the pot bellied white bears needs to be controlled, even though they are way more common. Perhaps they are less of a nuisance in people's trash cans...

Hotel rooms have been announced. Note the lower cost options can be as far as 10 miles from the convention center. I reserved a room at Amway Grand Hotel. It is right next to the convention center and about half a mile from Founders and Hop Cat.

Got the email about hotels.

I'm jumping in for the Amway as it is the closest (staggering distance) from the Convention Center. It's also the cheapest of the downtown hotels. The "cheaper" hotels are all outside of walking distance (>2.5 miles). The Holiday Inn is actually across the river from the Convention Center.

Assume that we'll go up on Wednesday for the BA Party (hotel check-in). As we discussed, we'll be leaving on Saturday, so check out of the hotel that day. Check out time on Saturday is 11 am.

The Amway is already booked solid on Tuesday the 10th (I asked in case we wanted to go up a day early for brewery tours). The website for the Marriott won't let you book under AHA for the 10th either.

Amway and Marriott are sold out for some of the nights already.

It wouldn't go through online, but I called and booked a room at the Holiday in. If anyone wants to share, let me know.

Or if someone already has a room at the Amway and wants to share, let me know, and I'll cancel mine.

I would share a room with you, Pottsie, or random Beer Nut with a decent room. I'm out of town and it's kind of a pain to make reservations.

I'm not having much luck finding a room at any of the 3 closest hotels... Is anyone that already has a room at Amway, Marriott, or Holiday Inn still looking for someone to share with?

It looks like the next closest currently available is the Riverfront. was wondering how full the curent rooms are or should I book riverfront? Saw AHA was thinking about setting up shuttles to some locations...

Shoot, I thought I had responded already.

Tom, you're in. If Tom doesn't object, we could fit one or two more.
