2010 Beer Camp

I Have a 3 person canoe that me and my girlfriend will try a arrange transporting it there. I also have access to a fair amount of tubes if some of us wanted to float. Not sure how many, would have to call my brother to see how many he has(it seems like he goes tubing every other weekend)

After the August meeting which is right before Beer Camp, I will post the final details including what time to meet, where, who, what etc...

As for now, lets meet at the watercraft rental parking area at Pinicon Ridge Park at 12:00 PM. That is where we will finish our trip and need some cars to get back to camp and pickup the 2 or 3 vehicles we have at the start.

Also, Anyone have some big tents? I have a four person tent that is really for 3 adults at best. We pay by the tent and need a minimum of three tents (or campers) and can have up to 10. If you have a tent, bring it out to camp and we can decide what to use there.

I don't have a big tent, but I do have two tents. One can take 3-4 people and the other is really only two person.

I am going to be there. I am still not sure about Momma. I am not sure about camping, but I will canoe for sure. My tents is friggin huge and leaks in the rain. I would just as soon not use it.

Cool. May pass on the tent if it is a leaker. If it doesn't rain my sleeping unit will be a chair by the fire.

Also, if someone just wants to ride and has no interest in paddling we can do three in a canoe. I imagine your job would be bartender.

Just make sure there is still enough room for the bar!!

Speaking of which, that would be great if we had a mobile bar we could bring to the camp site. I had a buddy win one from Miller or something, its times like this I wish I won one.

Don’t forget to bring some wood out too, if you want to burn something… I know we scavenged some last year, but unless you bring a chainsaw or good with a hatchet it could be lots of work.

Good idea T. Just remember, technically it is supposed to be no kegs so we need to keep the draft stuff on the down low for the most part. Overall they probably won't care. They certainly don't care if you are getting hammered.

Firewood is a hot topic this year. If they ask we need to say it came from the park because the emerald ash borer is causing issues and is transferred in firewood. They have signs all over to not bring in wood.

BA, now worries, just let us know when you can. Adam can bring a canoe if he has to from Pella and I am going to attempt to source two more in case we need them. Should be a good time.

I will check my notes from the CAB Meeting, however, I think it was decided that the keg charge was only $15 dollars and that it would be better for the club to pay the $15, then to risk taking kegs and getting a bad repuation and getting banned from the camping site.

So if you need to let them know in advance that we will be bringing kegs, please go ahead and do so.

I will look in to the keg charge. Last I saw they were prohibited. This is the current written regulation. Maybe our group site qualifies for an exception. If so, I think we should set up Tom's tap box at least on a picnic table

Section 24.1. Beer and wine containers regulated: No person or group shall bring, use, or have in his, her or their possession on any area, beer or wine in a keg, or any other container larger than one liter, except for those lodges and shelters which have been reserved and approved by the Director or his/her authorized representative.

I will check with the authorities if we can bring our homebrew kegs. Where did the $15 charge info come from? That may be helpful.

Linn County - and from the observation platform, one commands a wonderfully
scenic view of the Wapsipinicon River valley and the adjoining countryside
as far as the eye can see!

BTW - Who is going to check out the tower with me. If you have never been in it you should. Very cool view. Don't worry, the stairwell is enclosed now and it was renovated in the late 1990's. It is 72' tall.
