Since we're meeting Tuesday evening for the fest planning, let's just also plan to work out details for the Con too. With the club meeting Thursday I really don't want to make an additional trip to town.

I don't think I can make the meeting tonight, but I will be available by phone. If you have any questions for me, give me a ring.

Ok. We mainly need to work out logistics such as the trailer and the two pouring events. Is Jim P still planning to pull the trailer?

For those driving to the convention, we may want to consider checking out your parking options. For those of us staying at the Holiday Inn Express, there is a limited public parking next to the hotel and a public ramp across the street. Cost is $15/night first come first served. The hotel itself does not have any parking.

There is also a parking registration system you can use to guarantee parking in advance if you'd prefer. It's through Parking Panda:

SpotHero is a good app to have on your phone to find nearby parking.

Jim P is taking the trailer. It is currently at my house. Need to figure out if you want to unload some stuff that you won't need to haul up there or just leave it all in. You could take out some stuff and haul kegs in the trailer if you like. The shelves I put in have 26" of clearance on the bottom which will fit corney and pin lock kegs. There are also D-rings under there so you can use a ratchet strap to hold the kegs in place. Probably easiest to leave most of the gear in the trailer.

I can take the trailer to Lee's or have Jim pick up at my house. Can probably unload the stuff you don't want in my garage to take in there too. I won't have room for an extra bar though so may as well leave it in the trailer. If unloading stuff in my garage, may as well bring the trailer back to my house when you are done. I will not be home when you guys get back though.

Try to park it where you got it Mr. Potts. It is OK to use the the grass in the front yard to make a turn. With my shorter vehicle I drive down the driveway, make a U-turn and back it up by the garage. Should be able to do the same with the truck.

I will not be at the meeting tonight.

I am taking three kegs to NHC: a bittersweet orange mead; a sweet-tart gooseberry pyment; and a semi-dry apple cider.

I may be at the club meeting Thursday for a very short time. We are leaving on a camping trip Friday morning.

Since the club will have it's reputation somewhat on the line, it's been suggested that we "pre-taste" everyone's beers at the meeting Thursday night to ensure good quality. I'm not sure that we need to go that far unless everyone thinks that's necessary. However, if you have a beer that you are not sure about, you certainly can bring it for feedback. (I'm only mentioning beer here because we all know Pat makes killer mead).

The 12 year old gooseberry pyment is too good for you local people. You have to show up to NHC if you want to taste it. ;-)

Beer signs: In addition to the grog lat labels, we need to have signs made for our beers at both the Social Club and Club night. For the Social Club, the AHA requires that every beer has a 5"x7" sign and these need to be brought by us. I've attached the template that they provide. We can either have everyone make their own or if someone wants to do it that would be great. It'd be really cool to have our logo on there. I don't have a color printer or I'd do it.

For Club Night we'll use the same card holder and cards we normally do. Again, it would be great if someone could print something up for these so they look more professional. I've attached a spreadsheet with the current list of beers registered. It might also be nice to have larger sheets to put on the front of the bar itself. We may be able to re-use the SC signs for that or just make additional copies.

Proposed Schedule for Beer Nuts participation at Homebrew Con:

Wednesday 6/14: Most people are driving up. We should be able to transport kegs in the club trailer, but you are welcome to drop off kegs yourself too. The hours are Wednesday 10-6, Thursday 9-5, or Friday 9-5, But it would be best to get them there either by 6 Wednesday or first thing Thursday. The access point for the MCC Dock Area is the MCC Marshalling Yard Entrance located at 16th Street on the south side of the building and unloading is at Dock D. There will be a guard there and you need to tell them you're delivering for the Cedar Rapids Beer Nuts. You'll have 30 minutes to unload. Once I know Jim's schedule with the trailer, I'll let everyone know. We need to have at least 2-3 people on hand to unload kegs from the trailer.

Wednesday evening: Chop and Brew party 5-10:30. If you've signed up you should have gotten and email with instructions. I we get up there in time it might be a good time to hit one or two nearby breweries too.

Thursday morning: We're the first club up for the Social Club which starts at 11am in Hall E. We should be there by 10:30 to make sure everything is ready to go. The Con staff should have our kegs there and hooked up if I understand correctly. We should finish up at 1 pm.

Friday morning: Club Night setup runs 10am to 6pm. I'd like us to be there as close to 10 as possible, as things will get busier/crowded as the day goes on. Setup itself should only take and hour or so, but that also gives us time to deal with any problems that arise. This also should leave the afternoon open to have fun.

Friday evening: Club Night runs 7:30-11:30. Again, we should try to be there a bit earlier so we're ready to go. After the event we can take out small items such as kegs and other personal items.

Saturday morning Tear down runs from 9-noon. Everything has to be out of the hall by noon, no exceptions. Again, we should aim to be there as early as possible as moving out can get hectic. We'll need to bring the trailer back into the loading dock and get all our stuff loaded.

For club night, we're in booth 1303, which is close to the right wall if you're facing the stage. We're in a cluster of 4 booths with other Iowa clubs (IBU, Craze, and Ankeny). There's a map at the homebrewcon.org website. It's in Hall D.

I just want to thank Randy for taking the point on this for us. It's really nice to have things somewhat organized - less stress, more fun (i.e., drinking!)

I will print up my own cards for the SC and Club nights for my 2 beers. I have a color printer, also, so if anyone needs theirs printed out, I'll volunteer to help.

If I recall correctly, the Club Night beer signs are 8 1/2" x 11"??
