I like the seclusion too. Not only to protect the general public from Beer Nuts, but to protect us from the general (and possibly underage) public.

When I drove out at 10:30, the other sites were a major zoo.  Electricity is nice, but not at the expense of dealing with that mess.

Although it would be cool to pull up with the canoe, it only being one this year I don’t think the slight drive from the dock was that big of a deal, although it is one hell of a windy, hilly road. I’m not sure it was cool enough to enjoy stew or chili, so I’m not sure how much cooking devices we needed for that. A radio would be cool, but we could probably bring one with battery action.

I do really enjoy that last spot, and besides an occasional drifter car that rolls through, and has to make that awkward turnaround, it was amazingly quiet back there… well besides us.

It seems the biggest headache to figure out is how to get everyone’s car back from the drop in points. Maybe we hire a shuttle vehicle for the day or something of that nature. Thanks to Jim F. for helping with that this year.

I didn't go this year, so I am working from memory, why would the other sites be anymore of a zoo then our site, are they not all about the same size? Would it not be a matter of how many people were camping at the site then the location?

They are not separated from one another, like the current site is. The site we have used the last two years is separated from other sites by a tree line.

The other sites are closer to the main road and you get a lot of cars in and out all night. They also do not have trees between them to provide any buffer. Site number 7 has complete separation compared to all the others which is why I went with it before. It provides the most privacy. I do not see a need for electricity. It could add some luxuries but I like having it somewhat primitive. Beer camp is about as close to domestic camping I get. I usually camp on sand bars or in wildlife management area where there technically are no campgrounds.

One possibility is to reserve both campsite #6 and #5 which when combined have similar privacy to #7. They do not have good water access compared to #1. I checked their access this year and the trail was basically a deer path lined with poisin ivy. It would likely be the same next year. It could be used, but if someone picked up some poisin ivy that would suck.

It sounds like usual, we have a mixed bag with a leaning towards staying where we are at. I do prefer #7 so we can keep to ourselves. Next year Travis and I would like to start earlier, maybe even on time, with a longer canoe trip possibly from Troy Mills. We could still hook up at the bridge with floaters. I will probably just leave my stuff at camp in the morning and then leave my car overnight wherever we get on the river with the canoe. Then I can just grab it in the morning.

Thanks to all who made it this year and hope those that couldn't come can make it next year. Wish there was a magic weekend that everyone had free, but we all know that's not going to happen.

Depending on the landscape site 6 looks pretty close to the water to pull out from the water and far enough back to stay separated from the rest of the sites.

You say that now, but next year when there is a meeting of NA (Nympho's Anonymous) at Campground two, you are going to regreat the above statement!

The landscaping doesn't work too well for that site. It is an 8 foot mud cliff to climb up to the site except for one spot. That spot has a narrow deer trail that is predominately poison ivy. It could work if you wore shoes and pants but most don't in a tube.

sounds like a horrible place for drunken people to try and make their way out from the river.

Poison Ivy at the NA meeting sounds like a bad combination.
